Great location.
Shower. You needed an engineering degree to work it.
No option of breakfast.
Very friendly staff and room was lovely and clean had everything needed
Nothing we didn’t like
Easy access. Great location. Host was very helpful and friendly on call when needed couldn't be more helpful
Location. Bed was lovely and comfortable. Very quiet.
Beautiful setting and views of the bay.
Location and view
Small cramped room, over complicated shower
Noisy fridge
Mis match of furniture,
Location was great. People were lovely. We thought we had booked the small house which was our fault be fair so a little bit disappointed with that could do with changing the pillows. It was like sleeping on a brick.
We received a lovely warm welcome to this gorgeous house. Our room had a fantastic view out to the port. We had a short walk down the steps through the lovely garden into the town. Would highly recommend a stay here
Mark was there to meet us when we arrived. He was friendly & welcoming and took time to show us around.
We stayed in the Summerhouse on the property which was immaculate, spacious and very comfortable. Some basics such as milk and fruit juice had been for us.
The garden at the properly is lovely and guests are welcome to relax on the benches provided and take in the view.
The property is on a steep hill which is a bit of a challenge if you don't have a car. However, we were given information about an alternative route to use which was easier.
I wouldn't say this is a negative, just something to bear in mind if you have any mobility issues.
The bed was comfortable although it was a 4 poster and so one wouldn't have been able to view the wall mounted TV for the posts!
The bathroom was good inasmuch as it was clean, spacious and fully operational.
While it is described as being a kitchenette, there isn't a cooker. There was a microwave oven but no relevant crockery to use for cooking so I guess one would need to buy UPF (ultra processed food) that was microwavable for reheating proposes. The kitchenette is extremely small. I'm assuming, by contrast, the rather large bathroom was installed prior to the kitchenette, resulting in the kitchenette having been compromised in size and therefore equipment as a result.
There wasn't any small dining table suitable for 2 with suitable chairs to eat breakfast or dinner. There were, however, 3 chairs in the room. One was merely decorative and taking up room and the other 2 were "corner chairs", ie had a curved back but where one sits with one's legs on either side of one of the points on the seat, weren't comfortable either but, of course, there wasn't a table to sit at anyway. There wasn't the expected simple, daily breakfast or did I misinterpret?, so we bought bread to toast and sat on the bed to eat and drink tea/coffee which isn't ideal.
We'd stop somewhere for lunch which was easily found.
There was a fridge.
The electrical cabling for kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge was worthy of investigation.
I questioned whether to mention all this as the family are so nice but feel that there are so few places to dine in the evening on the island, that it's definitely worth mentioning that one wouldn't be able to create a dinner easily.
There are places for lunch, however.
There are steps to the rooms in the house where we stayed which could present a problem for people with mobility issues.
1st-4th Aug
Sophie was amazing, she met my friend & I down the bottom of the hill & helped with the luggage. Views☑️ Quietness☑️ giving us both time to recharge for 3 nights, loved the fact that we were in the middle of the town, but it was quiet, Room was immaculate, everything you needed to chill out. Sophie & Mark are a nice couple.
The window in the family room the wood rotted away, but Mark wrapped it together with waterproof tape, thankfully we had great weather, it was still warm at night, before Sophie & Mark left for their short break, Mark placed a screw in at the top of the window that meant we couldn't close/Open it, they couldnt apologise enough. Things happen but im sure that room shouldnt have been let!!
What i did object to in text back & forth with Sophie was Marks mother was in our room using her key TWICE, first time my friend & I were sitting looking out & talking, the next thing the door opened!!! The second time we were out, we knew she had been in as Another Hairdryer appeared in a drawer?!!
I was furious, I really wish Sophie was home as i doubt that would've happened, even though she may have had good intentions, (what im not sure about)as Sophie texts said, there was no excuse for the Mother in law to use a key to enter A GUESTS ROOM without their consent.
If i was the type of person, i could've accused her of taking something*Think about that* there is a cctv camera outside the room! It would've showed her entering the room to the police! I hadn't requested anything for the room.
TV signal went out more than on, we didnt see the WEATHER WARNING FOR THE FERRY'S STOPPING!! Or even anything about a Storm for Scotland.
Sophie & Mark are lovely, just wish they didn't leave a key with her mother in law. Had a semi relaxing time. Steps up are the short route back from all shops, Restaurants etc.
Friendly owner and room clean
We thought we had booked the chalet but turned out it was the “ Deluxe suite”. (technical error or my error- unsure) Owner said this has happened a few times with one guest “in tears”. I can understand why. Certainly not “Deluxe”!It is just a room with an eclectic mix of furniture , many wood types, stripes, bold prints, tartans etc. Far more furniture than shown in the pictures. The chalet looked nice and reviews reflect that but the “deluxe suite” was not an enjoyable stay.
Location is excellent. Superb view. Bathroom is excellent in Family suite. Grounds of the building are lovely and very well maintained. Very comfy bed. Very convenient parking.
Some issues with light level in the morning, but that's a minor thing.
