A very clean and up to date hotel with an excellent restaurant for both breakfast and evening meals
The restaurant was excellent and the hotel was in a very convenient location for days out.
The complex is very nice, the room was small for the price but everything was there, walk-in shower was excellent, the restaurant was nice but expensive, breakfast was great. EV chargers are available, slow and very expensive, I know these costs more, but over 10 times the price of home charging. The main problem was the acrid smell of raw sewage. We had to keep all windows closed, unable to sit outside where a table and chairs were provided. We did inform them at reception, but this did spoil our stay. I felt annoyed that for nearly £500 we had to put up with the smell of raw sewage for two nights.
Enjoyed our stay , lovely room and breakfast / dinner very nice in the restaurant . Would recommend for base exploring Northumberland coast
Lovely place for special occasion, think the service charge at restaurant is unnecessary
Booked last minute but absolutely wonderful!
I couldn't fault anything
The hotel was very comfortable and the décor modern and lively.
Beautifull surroundings, welcome from the staff was good, room very clean and tidy.
Room was very warm though, room small too.
Unfortunately, the check-in at this hotel was one of the worst I’ve experienced. Firstly, they do not accept American Express, which was inconvenient and not clearly stated in advance. The receptionist then struggled to process my alternative card, insisting it didn’t work. I politely asked her to try again and of course, the card worked perfectly the third time, confirming it was a user error on her part.
What made the situation worse was her lack of apology or acknowledgment of the mistake. Instead, her attitude was dismissive and unnecessarily rude. She did not appear to have the experience or professionalism required for a front-facing role, which set a poor tone for the stay.
This is a lovely hotel. We had a room in the Pole Barn which had its own outside seating. The seating here could do with being a wee bit more comfortable, but it was a nice touch. The room was small but very well-designed - controllable temp and lighting, a fridge and a great bathroom. The restaurant was lovely - big, airy and stylish. The food was excellent adn the main bonus was the staff -friendly and helpful without fail.
Hotel was great good food, rooms were clean and well.maintained. loved the colourful decor. A Sauna would have made it perfect.
Amazing hotel. Always so welcoming and the staff go above and beyond to ensure you have the best stay.
Great stay from start to finish, all the staff were very friendly, room was big and had everything we needed, breakfast this morning was spot on.
Lovely hotel, let down by the restaurant's food.
We had a lovely time at The Tempus hotel. Our room was a Junior Suite and was large, well decorated, clean and confortable. The reception staff were very welcoming and showed us to our room. The bar and terrace were nice - we were lucky with the weather so were able to sit outside. The surroundings are lovely.
The resturant however lets the hotel down. We had dinner and breakfast. At dinner, the waitress who took our order did not know the menu and incorrectly answered our question about what was included with the Pan Fried Fillet of Pork - she told us it came with Potatoes but it didn't. My wife had the Fish and Chips. Both of our meals were overcooked. I ate mine because I was hungry. She sent hers back. To their credit, they gave us desserts on the house, which were good.
Breakfast the following morning was OK, but nothing special.
This was our second visit to Charlton Hall and this time stayed in The Tempus. It didn’t disappoint. Everything is well thought out, the rooms are comfortable and spacious. The entire hotel is beautifully decorated. We ate in the Orangery a couple of times, both of which were delicious. The staff are attentive and courteous. What’s not to love! We will return!
The food was very good in the restaurant. The decor everywhere is lovely. It has a nice setting, staff were very pleasant.
The smell of sewage outside in the area where our hot tub was awful and wasn't good when trying to sit outside apparently an ongoing problem. The sofa bed also needs to be renewed I sat on the end and fell through it. My poor kids had to sleep on it.
The accommodation was fantastic and extremely comfortable, the service and friendliness of the the staff was excellent, the restaurant catered for our dietary requirements and the food was superb. would go back again
My husband, daughter and myself stayed here for a little night away! The design of the place is really something else, we really loved the quirky interior design. The rooms were spacious with everything you need inside. We decided to stay for our evening dinner and we were really impressed with the food and the breakfast was also lovely. We loved the surrounding area, it really is a lovely little place, quiet and out of the way but enough to do you don't have to leave the complex. We enjoyed it so much we're looking to book again later in the summer! Staff are lovely and so friendly, we really had a lovely time!
We’ve stayed at Charlton Hall a few times now and it never disappoints! The grounds and hotel are immaculate, truly such a peaceful place that is the perfect base for exploring Northumberland.
