Gorgeous boutique hotel in the heart of Ventura! This hotel was sooo perfectly curated, there was not one detail that was seen unnoticed! It was beautiful, immaculate, beds were comfortable and a walk to dinner! The esthetics were lovely! Only 2 bummers but def not deal breakers; the morning shower barely had hot water (our friends who were staying there in another room said the same thing) and the morning coffee that was at the bar was not hot but warm, tasted a little stale:( I think the coffee could have been better especially when you are staying somewhere as beautiful as this you want to be sipping fresh hot coffee in the living room with the beautiful light! Great stay though and a stones throw from LA! I’ve already told other friends about it!

Clean, cute, expensive property with no amenities.
Pros:

It's quaint and unique property. I like the aesthetic. It has an old mission vibe while I know it was previously an Elks Club. Very nicely restored. The air conditioning worked very well. The room was very clean. The bed was comfortable. The complimentary water and beverages in mini bar were appreciated. They have some bikes available for guests.

Cons:

For a stay priced at over $500 a night, I expected more. No one was at the front desk when we arrived. A friendly staff member eventually greeted us and walked us to our room—but provided no information about the property, amenities, or neighborhood. The only comment was, “This is our last room; there are wedding blocks tonight,” which felt like a preemptive way to discourage any room change requests.

The room itself was on the lower level, but it had a distinct basement feel. The lower half of the walls were unfinished concrete, and the small window looked directly onto a stairwell above the garage. As shown in the photos, the bathroom is open to the room, which I expected, but the toilet area didn’t have a working fan.

Throughout the night, it sounded like we were sleeping beneath a busy gym. Parking was on the street, which seemed odd given the price and lack of guidance on other options. No one mentioned amenities or features—only at checkout did I learn there was a gym across the hall.

Overall, the experience fell short of expectations for the price point.

Pros:

Beautiful property. Super nice staff, great location, very comfortable bed.
I would stay on the upper level next time.

Cons:

We stayed in a room on the ground floor and there was a loud AC unit near by. We could also hear people waking above us.

Beautifully appointed hotel. You can tell that a lot of thought and effort went into the design. It has a historic feel to it but it is remodeled and modern. Comfortable rooms with large shower. Nice ambience. Very walkable to restaurants and bars.

Best Stay Ever - Ventura CA!
Pros:

If I could give 1 million stars, I would!!! Our stay at Hotel San Buena was absolutely AMAZING!! I cannot say enough positive things about the Staff!! It felt like we were in a private setting with so much attention to detail! Its location is fabulous, walking distance to the beach AND fabulous Main Street and Downtown! I highly recommend this gem before the word gets out!! Run, don’t walk, and book here!! We are already planning our comeback! 💗🙏🎇
