This lovingly restored historic YMCA building has both character and modern cleanliness, a rare combination. The location in the center of Jim Thorpe's quaint main street, which in winter is reminiscent of Harry Potter's Diagon Alley, is ideal. Just one drawback: The very thin walls meant we could hear every word of the movie our neighbors were watching (luckily it was "Pride and Prejudice;" could have been worse!) followed by hours' worth of a baby crying in another room. If you're a heavy sleeper, it should be no problem and I highly recommend the Y on Broadway. Light sleepers might consider looking elsewhere.
The rooms are clean and spacious, the staff is genuinely kind and helpful. Everyone was wonderful. We had a snow storm and came out to meet the owner who was shoveling all around of our cars to help us out. The woman who took care of breakfast had everything neat and clean. Food was incredible. Drinks at the bar were served by a super friendly bartender who told us that she loved her job. The fireplace is cozy. They have quiet time from 10pm to 8am for a comfortable good night sleep. My only suggestion is to bring a fan or a white noise machine as the floors are hardwood and you can hear foot steps. We always sleep with a fan so it was no bother. Highly recommended for a stay in Jim Thorpe. My husband and I will definitely be back.
Really impressive boutique hotel in picturesque Jim Thorpe, PA with chic amenities, nice ownership. accommodating staff and a location central to all of the entertaining venues in town.
Just a very positive experience. This is a historic building that Duke the owner has put so much heart and soul into to create one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in of late. In a town that can get very busy the hotel is centrally located with parking for its customers. Parking in town appears to be an issue so having designated parking is a real plus. As for the hotel it maintains some of its original charm in the lobby area. But once you get to the rooms they are modern, spacious and very clean. No stained carpets or worn furnishings here, and did I say clean ! Bathrooms are also nicely done , bright and well stocked with towels, soaps etc. I was able to get a quick tour of the hotels rustic rooms which are warm and inviting, definitely will book these next trip. Overall the staff is very friendly, engaging and helpful. Duke seems to always be there and open to sharing the history of the Y, and the pride he takes in his hotel. So warm, inviting , quiet with a great location makes the Y an absolute 5 in my book .
We were very impressed with this hotel. it is in a great location and has its own parking lot. The staff is incredibly nice. We arrived a little after 12 and were able to check in early which was so convenient that we could walk around and not have to return for check in. we were given drink vouchers for the bar in the evening which was a nice treat. our room was on the first floor. room was very nice. it was clean and comfortable. The Y was just a few minute walk to anywhere we wanted to go. in the evening we had our drink and relaxed in the very nice lobby area. it is just a friendly atmosphere in the hotel. staff and the other guests were so friendly during our stay. there is a complementary breakfast with waffles, bagels, fruit etc. the only issue on the first floor is if your not a good sleeper you will hear the waffle machine go off frequently but we were up early so not an issue for us. we were only able to stay one night on this trip. we hope to return again sometime soon.
Beautiful super spacious room at the Y on Broadway in lovely downtown Jim Thorpe! We loved our stay! The beds were super comfy. Everyone at the front desk was super friendly and helpful. This location is within walking distance to all the major attractions including the train and trolley, shopping, and restaurants. We will definitely return one day. Thank you for a relaxing stay!
The location was great and it was quiet. Our room was ready early and I had ordered a charcuterie board and a bottle of wine for our anniversary which was terrific. The room was perfect and up to date and clean. Price was affordable!
This is as good as it gets in a two-horse town. Room was spacious and clean, sparse but well appointed. What really made this hotel was that every single member of staff we dealt with was friendly and pleasant, and went out of their way to assist us.
Handsome historic building.Very modern room filled with natural light.
Staff was knowledgeable & welcoming. The owner was about and interesting to talk with.Great to be able to walk to restaurants& train station. We had a great time and would stay at the Y again!!!
The rustic room with 2 queen beds was just as gorgeous as shown on the web site! The bathroom & shower were great (love the barn door). Beds were comfortable, everything was very clean; having a fridge was a plus (microwave in the lobby if you needed to warm anything up). Coffee, tea, hot cocoa are always available there, too. Everyone working at the Y was so pleasant and accommodating. Being able to park right in the middle of town is a huge advantage; we walked everywhere. Complimentary beer, wine or soft drink the evening we checked in and continental breakfast in the morning (bagels, make-your-own waffles, yogurts, fresh fruit, instant oatmeal) - more plusses.
The only negative: walls seem thin, as we could clearly hear the couple next door to us talking, and people above us on the third floor could be hear walking around - I guess that's due to the wood floors with just a couple of small area rugs or the age of the building. To avoid some of this noise, a room on the top floor would've been better.
We had wonderful accommodations at The Y on Broadway in Jim Thorpe. Everyone was so friendly & helpful with any questions asked. Beautiful hotel! Would definitely stay there again! Duke was so friendly. Also, a big thank you for contacting me about something I had left there, & making sure I received it prior to leaving town! Loved that we could walk to all the sights.
What a wonderful boutique hotel that used to be a YMCA. You can see and feel the place as a Y, for sure.
The rustic rooms were great—we had two queens, a spectacular shower, DirectTV (we were unfamiliar with how to use as we have cable), personable staff and great pork bbq sandwiches.
The best part? Park the car in the lot and walk. You did not even have to move it.
Town is cool, great things to do and eat. Would go there again, although maybe a different time of year as there were thousands of people there for the leaf peeping.
But still, loved it!
We enjoyed our stay here, the room was clean and comfortable.... breakfast was great! Highly recommend this hotel
Breakfast has little choice
Our party of four was very happy with our two night stay at the Y on Broadway. The rooms were spacious with modern amenities, and provided a super comfortable night's sleep. One of our two rooms did not have a chair, but when my husband inquired, the staff brought up a chair which was appreciated. Breakfast was adequate, complimentary and in an inviting area. We loved staying in a former YMCA which was pretty cool. The most special part of our stay was the staff. So friendly and helpful. Top notch all the way. Plus the location can't be beat. Right on the Main Street of downtown Jim Thorpe; walking to sights was easy.
Our trip to Jim Thorpe was spur of the moment, returning from Plymouth, MA. We booked the hotel from the car, literally 3 hours out. Luckily they had a cancelation and we got in to a regular room. It was very nice, clean, a great shower, very comfortable beds, etc. The next morning we decided to try and extend our stay (spur of the moment). The room we were in was booked so they moved us into a "rustic" room (new iron beds with pillow top mattresses, used brick walls, open rafter ceiling, great window lighting, wonderful bathroom with a faucet that resembled and old fashioned water pump, etc.). Great!!!! If available, try to book one of these. The common areas were all clean and new. The staff were wonderful; friendly, helpful, cheerful. The continental breakfast was what you would expect in any good hotel. Small (but free) parking lot out back. There is a spa next door. If you have reason to visit Jim Thorpe (delightful little touristy turn of the 20th Century town), I suggest trying to snag a room at the Y. A very cool little boutique hotel.
the staff was just amazing!!!!! Very friendly and. very helpful. Room was clean. Will definitely stay again.
Small bar but adequate.
Staff members were professional. Room was very clean and roomy.
