Overall impress
I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Chicago Schaumburg by IHG. Check-in was a bit tricky because my virtual Expedia card couldn’t be used, so the front desk had to cancel my booking and rebook directly but thankfully the price was the same. Other than that, the hotel was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with Dove products, plenty of towels, a fridge, microwave, and coffee machine. I appreciated the hardwood floors and the convenient location about 25 minutes from ORD and close to restaurants and gas stations. Overall, I had a pleasant stay and would stay here again.

Tasty breakfast and very friendly staff
Upon arrival we were told that they did not have a room for us and that our reservation was cancelled because our card declined, which I knew was not possible. The staff was rude and was not interested in even attempting to resolve the issue. I immediately contacted my bank and they confirmed that there had not been a charge attempted, nothing had been declined, and that we had more than enough available credit.
We were seven hours away from home and hotel rooms were scarce in the area. Fortunately the Hampton Inn in Saint Charles not only had a room for us but upgraded our stay after hearing about what we had dealt with at this hotel.
This place is incredibly beautiful and clean! I will definitely return whenever I visit Chicago !
Very safe clean and quiet
Lovely new hotel conveniently located. Room was nicely appointed (save for a clock that had the wrong time). Breakfast was a notch above typical hotel hot food, though no waffle maker. Food was warm 3 of the 4 mornings I was there, lukewarm one day. Staff was friendly and helpful.
I did a search for hotels at O'Hare Airport, and Holiday Inn Express came up. I booked a room. 5 minutes later, when I was searching transportation options, I realized that this hotel is a $50-$70 cab ride from the airport, or an hour subway ride. I called immediately to get a refund, the hotel denied my request. This is false advertising. I am an IHG member, and I am cancelling my membership. Any organization that engages in deceptive marketing practices does not deserve my business.

We stay at Holiday Inn Express hotels a lot. I have never had one give me an issue with asking to stay an hour after check-out. First off, having an 11am check-out in 2025 is crazy. Secondly, I have never been given trouble to ask for an hour later of a check-out. Given the fact that I could have booked other rooms in this hotel for that day; they could have been kind to give me the hour or even say they would charge me for the extra hour but to give me 30 minutes and then call 15 mins into the 30 to ask if I was booking another night was absurd. I got out of the room and worked in the lobby since I needed more than 30 minutes and while there - the manager had a screaming match with another guest. Whatever or however the other guest was being had no bearing to raise your voice (while they were there with 3 kids) to your hotel guest in the main lobby for all to hear. It was unnecessary, bad customer service and just an overall - never stay at this hotel again vibe for sure. Luckily for guests, there are over a dozen hotels within a 1 mile radius that may have a better idea of customer care. I never right anything but good reviews and typically skip a review if I had a bad one but this stay really had me shaking my head.
Road noise
Everything is clean and functional; a nice place to be after a long drive.
The staff was helpful and courteous. The hotel was clean and the gym has the essentials.
Nice newly built or renovated hotel. Two issues make it 4 instead of 5:
1. There is loud music playing outside at the pool clearly audible inside the rooms until midnight. Even with ear plugs it was frustrating.
2. The bathroom has a barn door instead of a normal door. Not great for sounds or smells. I’d much prefer a traditional door
