Fabhotel Suncitel

In May 2025 I made reservations at two of the hotels in the FabHotel chain near Kolkata Airport to stay there in November 2025, but was forced to cancel them due to the dishonest practices of this chain. In the Booking.com listing they clearly stated "No Prepayment Needed -- pay at the property." However, as soon as I had made the reservation -- the very next day in fact! -- I received an email from them demanding immediate payment of all or part of the fee, stating that what I had was only a 'temporary' reservation and that it could be cancelled at any time unless I paid right away. I was not unwilling, and phoned them, offering that they could charge my credit card which I had entered on the Booking.com reservation form. However, they refused, claiming that they did not to have the card details, and insisting on a bank wire instead! So, don't go near this chain of hotels despite the attractive rates! What they say in the listing contradicts the small print! Prepayment is demanded immediately otherwise they threaten to cancel. Also, even though they claim to accept Mastercard, Visa, etc., this is also evidently also a lie because they insisted it had to be a bank wire. Be careful! Read the small print!!!

Why Booking .com gave this an excellent rating I dont know.
The frontage bore no relation to the one ion the website.
Good points - cheap, near airport and hotel provided car to get there at 5 in the morning. Room large and bed quite comfortable. Good air con.
Bad points - incredibly noisy. Sheets seemed clean but grey with cigarette burns in them. Only one small grey towel supplied for the 2 of us (not that the condition of the shower made us want to have one. Room dusty and cleaner had left his flip plops in the corner. Wash basin definitely not sparkling!
Still you get what you pay for I suppose but like another reviewer I do wonder what Booking.com is thinking of.

We booked this hotel on Booking.com, but it is a complete sham. It is a disgusting, sordid place, in a horrible part of the city. The room was terrible, old, run down and like the worse sort of hostel you can imagine. Not the shiny, modern hotel in the photos. Our sheets were dirty and had pubic hairs on them. The bathroom was filthy and neither it, nor the bedroom, had clearly been cleaned for a very long time. It was late at night when we arrived and we had a very early flight the next morning, so we couldn’t change hotels, but slept on the beds, lying on our own towels. Worse still, a review has now appeared on Booking.com, apparently from me, giving it a score of 9 and calling it ‘superb’. I have contacted Booking.com asking them to take this fake review off their site and recommending they take the ‘hotel’ off their site too. DO NOT STAY HERE!

My stay at this Property [FabHotel Suncitel Dum Dum Airport] was a disaster ! I selected a triple deluxe room, when i checked in ,the front desk said they don't see the room type and gave me a basic room.
On top of that , it was a dirty, smelly room. Almost no room service. No towels on repeated request. In fact I didn't know it was a OYO hotel. For a bit more price I could have got a Holiday Inn Express room nearby (the Kolkata Airport).

Don’t trust the pictures on booking.com and I really don’t understand the good ratings! The rooms are very dirty and the smell is disgusting, my bed sheets were dirty too. Further more it’s quite loud in the room and the building is shaking the whole time because of the busy road in front of it. I just stayed on night and was very happy when I left in the morning.
