Kabin Taka is situated on a quiet side street that is only a short walk from the main avenue and the chaotic touristy areas. You get the benefit of being able to walk to key areas and train stations but still experience the quiet residential part of Kyoto. Our room was big with a comfortable bed and a wonderful bathroom with a waterfall shower. Fresh towels are available on every floor, and there are laundry machines on two different floors. There is also a decent gym on the main floor. We loved staying here!

Insgesamt ein modernes Hotel in guter Lage, vieles kann man zu Fuß erreichen, U-Bahn oder Bus Stationen sind auch fußläufig erreichbar. Hotel war sauber, die Zimmer ausreichend geräumig, Waschbecken ist allerdings im Zimmer drin, Toilette und Dusche sind separat. Es gibt einen gut ausgestattete Fitnessraum, ebenso gibt es Waschmaschinen und Trockner.
Was etwas gestört hat, dass vieles mit Selbstbedienung war (Check in, Check out, neue Handtücher), dadurch hatte man teilweise das Gefühl, in einem Hostel zu sein, was angesichts des nicht günstigen Preises nicht sein sollte. Hotelpersonal war auch eher jung und wirkte nicht immer souverän.

Location was great, loads of places to eat and drink within blocks and reasonably ready pubic transport connections.
Full disclosure. We stayed in a residence room which is huge but we were lucky to get a last minute deal so the price was discounted
There's no cafe on site but there's a reasonable one in their main hotel around the corner that opens early and loads of options near hotel but Japanese cafes generally open later than you may be used to.
The laundry room was not quite as clean as I would expect.
I loved how big the room was, really nice interiors and the gym was really good aswell!

Laundry, comfortable bed
Smell in the room. Wall of the next house was 1m from the window, so the room was dark and without any kind of view. Staff seemed mostly bored.

Good location in a moderately quiet part of Kyoto - but still close to everything
The location was great, walking distance to endless restaurant options and shopping nearby. Also near the Nishiki market.
There was a muggy smell in the room and it was impossible to set the air conditioner to anything else than freezing cold, so we had to choose between smell of damp/mold/no fresh air or freeze. The beds are very hard. Also I didn’t realize the breakfast was in a different hotel, just 200 meters away but still a walk in the morning to get there. When we tried that breakfast place, we saw they only have 3 options and only after we had considered the menu for a good while we were told that the option with egg was sold out.
