The Ritz is undoubtedly the best in Fukuoka. Absolutely everything about the Ritz was faultless. Our sincere thanks to Asteria, Kei, Lisa, Hinako from Viridis for their exceptional service. Thanks to all of the unnamed staff at Viridis for their service. Sonia and Lakshmi from the Fitness/Spa for their attentive service. Ayana from housekeeping. Shota and Yuki from concierge. Sunil and Karin from guest relations. To all of the others at Guest Relations, Housekeeping and Viridis, thanks again for making our stay a memorable and enjoyable one.
This hotel is a bit like a japanese mochi: you don´t really know from the ordinary look outside (modern architecture, nothing noteworthy) how good the filling is. The filling of this hotel was absolutely flawless.
Location: in walking distance to major shopping area including various shopping malls. Restaurants are plenty in the neighborhood.
Room: 1929 - spacious, functional, interior design in light coloured wood. Bathroom also quite large with tub and shower, separate toilet. Sufficient sockets and charging points for your cellphone, iPad and what else.
Service: Be it at the Reception on Floor 18, the breakfast, the bar (on 18th floor as well): all perfect. Friendly, attentive, solving problems (like ours with a domestic onward flight).
We have been in many 5-star-hotels; this one was by far the best we spent a couple of nights in during our trip in Japan this year. Absolutely flawless. 6 out of 5. Well done!
Everything, the service is top notch, the bed is so comfortable and the design is luxurious and cosy. Location is also perfect, the valet service is also exceptional. Definitely will be back in the future

Everything was excellent
Just a suggestion, cheese plate ordered at the bar, would be nice to add a few crackers to enjoy with the cheese….
The staff were amazing, great hotel and facilities. Great customer service and attention to details.
Upon arrival, staff are all very polite and welcoming. Basement lift takes you up to their reception. As it was quite busy when we arrive, the person who usher us to the lift was dramatic, only 1 set of customer per lift and they do not allow others to go in together. Is unnecessary and wasting a lot of time. Then when we reach the reception, we were told to wait on the sofa seats. After waiting for more than 10min. , someone finally came and told us we have lounge access, so we should proceed to the lounge. I was getting fed up, and said no, we check in here now please. Whole check in process took about 25min. Japanese are very efficient in some things, but their "process" has so many red tapes and employ too many redundant people.
Room was rather small considering is a club room king and said 50sqm? Love the shower area, very nice tiles and easy to use. Toiletries use are very nice - love it! What stands out is their lounge. Is very well thought out. Layout was good. Alcohol serve all day! And the alcohol selection are good quality. Their breakfast was good enough, then they serve lunch 1130-130pm! Then tea sets 230-430. Then happy hour food 530-8pm. You can basically eat around the clock in the lounge.
Their gym is basic, all modern equipment and 24hrs. Very glad as this gym needs a fee to enter unless you've club access, there was hardly anyone when I was using. Similarly for the indoor swimming pool ~ 22m as the width is rather small, it was empty when I use it at 6:30am Love it! This place doesn't have onsen but small sauna and steam room which is very clean and nice.
Location is very good. You're literally at the center of action. If you've only 2 days in Fukuoka, this could be the place for you!
We rated the room and the Spa 5/5, and the rest 3/5.
We stayed at the Deluxe Suite for 4 nights in total, 2 nights before our 7 Stars train journey and 2 nights after. The room was very comfortable and beautifully designed. We especially love the panoramic view of the city from the bathroom.
Our room included access to the Club Lounge which offered several food presentations. Food was displayed nicely and good in quality. We dined at Viridis and we tried their newly introduced signature tasting menu. We also visited Genjyu for a sushi counter dinner. Both experiences were enjoyable but the food was not particularly memorable. On the other hand, we recommend a visit to the Spa. The Botanical Revive treatment we tried was excellent and it was the perfect way to relax after our morning excursion.
When we visited the other RC properties, we were escorted to the Club for check in, while a welcome drink was offered at the lounge. When we arrived at this hotel, we were asked for our names at the entrance. However, once we reached the lobby, they performed our check in at the front desk. It was definitely not the normal standards for Club guests at RC.
After our train journey, we were asked for our names again at arrival and were directed to the front desk once more. We explained that we had Club access, and the staff member then guided us to the Club floor. We do not understand the purpose of collecting our names at the entrance if the lobby staff do not recognise the booking details and are not ready to welcome us.
When we arrived at the Club, we were handed over to another staff member. Instead of showing us inside the lounge and offering us a drink, she asked us to sit and proceed with the check in. It took longer than it should for her to locate our booking. Her English was not strong and she was struggling to deliver the basic information. We could tell she was quite nervous while speaking English. It was a poor check in experience like the first time.
The staff we met were friendly and courteous, and we truly appreciate their eagerness to assist and their attention. However, for some staff, the level of English was not sufficient, and this frequently led to miscommunication which was quite frustrating. This happened several times with different staff members during our stay and it negatively affected our overall impression of this hotel.
