..

Apart from being very central and offering a reasonable breakfast, everything else was negative about our stay at hotel Sevron. The daytime hotel manager didn’t make an effort, while the night porter spoke several languages. The hotel staff smoked in the dining room and in the bed rooms while cleaning them. We had two different rooms, one had a leaking basin, the other lack of water in the shower. Bed linen was dirty and we had to ask for a duvet (December). The lift broke down during our stay and wasn’t mended 2 days later. We were on the 4th floor! The Price didn’t match what was written on Hotels.com website and increased by 300tl for New Years eve, although no change in the service nor information on what entertainment there was for new year’s eve.
I think the hotel is competing to be the crappiest hotel in Turkey. Certainly it was the worst we stayed in.
Televizyon yok, Klima yoktu
Okay City Hotel old but near everything
There was breakfast but there were only dried bread ends left.
And even if there was four Employees sitting in the dining area det var busy smoking and talk to each other no one lift a finger to check if there was bread so we end up buying our own bread and eat there
Terrible stay, a/c was not working when 93 degrees heat. Shower and facet and most other stuff is broken
First they tried to convince you that Expedia reservation number is not correct, then you should have long debate about reservation to check in.
Room is dirty, toilet is very unclean, no hot water and even shower is broken.
Not recommended at all.
Mersin is a sprawling port city - Turkey's largest after Izmir - yet the calm waterfront palm-treed park and esplanade, views of the port on left side, marina on the right, big mosque and colourful bazaar: these make a brief stopover a joyful experience, and a breath of fresh air compared to the stuffy metropolis of Adana.
Such a shame the train between the two has been suspended: had been looking forward to that simple connective pleasure.
Savran is boutique in its dreams, but a fine budget choice at the heart of the bazaar.
And there's a liquor store right opposite, which is perfect - these places often being frustrating to track down in Turkey outside of resorts, when all you desire is some cold Efes as reward for a dusty hectic day navigating between A & C via D.
Savran has a fridge in the room to keep cans ice-cold.
Check-in was friendly, and the guy who showed me up to the room made sure that my WiFi problems - a regular occurrence between Antep & Alanya - were sorted, even though it took a number of botched attempts & reboots. A good simple soul who took it as his sworn duty to help me feel comfortable. Bless his cotton socks.
Room, bed, ensuite again hardly boutique yet very comfortable.
Confusing leaving Mersin for points west, as the otogar seems to have been disbanded as well as the trains: a frustrating experience with different misinformation from different people in Turkish.
In the end, the usual course of action is to walk up to the infamous D400 - which amazingly connects Iran with Marmaris! Route 66 is small potatoes - flag down a dolmus.
But that's moving on.
An overnight was sufficient, and glad I did.
Fond memories of Mersin & Savran.
