We have had seven nights here in the Bai Taormina Hotel where the friendly staff make you feel part of the family, which encourages the guest to mingle and chat and spend the evenings together. There is a wonderful singer most evenings but she is not overly loud.
The food is all local Sicilian specialties made from scratch in house with a very wide selection of savoury vegetables and pastas and three fresh fish and three meats grilled to your liking. There is an equally impressive spread for breakfast. All presided over by Maitre Dhotel Leo Grasso who went out of his way every evening, to make it special for all the guests including ourselves even organising a vegan birthday cake.
You will probably need a car if you stay here it’s about 6 km outside of Taormina itself and you will want to explore the rest of this side of Sicily. It’s also built into the side of a hill with the hotel on three or four different layers with three or four different lifts taking you up and down the hill side and up and down the hotel.
This elevation gives you the panoramic views of the bay whilst eating breakfast or the sparkling lights of Taormina in the distance whilst having your evening meal.
Did I forget to mention the coffee? easily the best decafinato I have ever tasted and they don’t even charge for it, with breakfast or the half board we enjoyed.
I can’t recommend this lovely hotel enough when I visit Sicily this will be where i will be staying. Well done to all the staff here showing much more expensive hotels how it should be done!
Visit was awesome. Staff was warm and welcoming.
A special haul out to Federica Palma who has a voice of a Nightingale and a beautiful smiling soul. We loved hearing her sing. She made the evening, very vibrant and fun filled. We would look forward to coming back to the hotel and just chill in the courtyard because of Federica. God bless her.
I would have loved to leave a better review. Staff were lovely and the view amazing - 2 redeeming features of this hotel. However, the "luxury" triple room had an absolutely filthy sofa, dirty fridge, stained lampshades and an awful ant problem - you woul get about a hundred in 5 minutes after leaving a piece of bread out. Even the fridge did not detain them, and they attacked everything inside, so the food had to be thrown away. They should really invest in redecorating....
Sanny is the best! Fabulous bartender & can’t wait to drink tomorrow! The views are stupendous! The staff is wonderful!
Sanny saved my life with a gin tonic. The resort is really great and all staff are amazing! But shout out to Sanny and Cristian for the amazing treatment that i had in my first day.
Vista mozza fiato e personale professionale e disponibile.
Overall a nice stay. The property itself is very dated and needs a renovation/upgrade. But the service at breakfast, and the views from the upgraded rooms are great. Standard rooms are not great. Reception staff average. Gym needs more weights/equipment (but decent room). Some small improvements (aside from a total refresh/renovation) would make a huge difference.
Il posto è incantevole, arroccato sulla montagna, si ha una vista sulla baia di Taormina da tutta la strittura. Dalle piscine nella parte bassa fino all'ultima camera in alto.
Stayed at the hotel last week for 7 nights with my family and we had the best time. The hotel is spotless and the staff are wonderful and helpful. A big shout out for the pool guy Fabian! One of the nicest people you will ever meet and he couldn't do enough for us, catered to our every need to ensure we were happy. Highly recommend the hotel and will definitely return. Thank you
molto deluso riguardo al bagno, assolutamente non da albergo di 4 stelle. Altra cosa un po povero come intrattenimento e servizio bar in piscina.
Great morning breakfast buffet as well as a great Dinner buffet.lots of options, from a private beach area to shuttle service to Taormina…pools were a nice way to cool off
The hotel itself is nice, looking a bit tired in places, needing updating. Very clean, friendly with fairly good amenities, a lot of walking is involved to get from your room to any of the amenities. Very comfortable bed, pillows not so much, we stayed in a deluxe room which had a lovely balcony including a table with chairs and sun loungers which was a god send on the two days when it rained on and off.
Our deal was a BB for 9 nights. The hotel has nothing around it that is in walking distance, they do run a shuttle service into the centre for 10 euros pp return which is very good value which you need to pre book your slot earlier in the day.
We spent most evenings eating at the hotel which wasn't the best idea economically or for choice. At 35 Euros pp I would expect more variety considering that most people opted to eat in. We were quite bored of the food by the third night. My husband has a shellfish allergy and it was disappointing and scary that none of the food were labelled at all with any ingredients or allergy warnings especially in this day and age.
There is nothing to do in the hotel in the evenings other than sit in the bar and listen the lovely young lady sing or play requests which gets rather boring after a couple of evenings.
We chose to rent a car for two days to explore rather than taking the expensive tours. A word of advice, if renting a car, pre book before your trip.
Don't bother with the spa! We booked various massages between myself, my husband and two grown up children, what a waste of time and money! One young lady running the very dead spa ( now we know why it was dead ). I booked in for a lymphatic drainage massage and got an hour of gentle oil rubbing on my calves. We complained to the reception explaining our reasoning as to why we would only agree to pay for half the money and they did agree without argument which was nice. I now wish I had declined to pay at all but we wanted to be reasonable.
Don't bother with the beach unless you are very fit and like adventures. The trek to get to it is so hazardous, you need appropriate footwear.
The lifeguard at the pools lovely, friendly and extremely helpful.
I do think that it would be a good gesture if a free bottle of water was presented to each guest upon arrival considering the heat, the cost of hotel and the fact that it is in the middle of nowhere as many hotels around the world do offer this.
Maybe the hotel could benefit its guest by adding a little convenience store on the grounds?!
When we were checking out, we discovered a lot of room charges that were not ours. It turned out that another guest (who had already checked out as discovered later ) had been giving our room numbers. We could clearly see that the signatures were very different. Thankfully, it was all resolved and we only paid for our bill. I would have thought that they could have done a little bit more than just an apology considering it was down to their own poor payment system. They ask you for your room number and get you to sign a piece of paper, apparently they are meant to check on their list of guest names with room numbers to make sure it tallys, obviously their staff, in particular at the pool bar, were not doing their jobs properly.
We used Voyage Prive and included was a welcome cocktail each, upon asking the hotel, we were told that we were only entitled to any non alcoholic drink or red/white wine. Poor communication between the hotel and Voyage Prive if they can't agree on what a cocktail is.
All in all, we had a good holiday but I wouldn't go back to this hotel or recommend it. I wouldn't rate it worth the money which is a shame as it has potential to be better.
This is a remote hotel and a car is advisable. The area is very beautiful and very peaceful. Staff are very nice. However the fire alarm went off for approx 20 mins during the night. There appeared to be NO staff fire drill procedure. No effort to make sure guests were safe or to keep guests up to date in relation to if there was a fire. A good few people didn’t hear the alarm that we’re staying on the top floor.
Had a great experience staff was friendly and helpful. The best views!!! Was magical.
6-night stay with my wife and daughter in a hotel perched on a cliff overlooking the Ionian Sea. We had rooms with their own private terraces on the penultimate floor, providing breathtaking views of the stunning Eastern Sicilian coastline. The rooms were clean, suitably rustic, quiet, and spacious. Hotel staff were polite, approachable, and respectful - the Reception staff were lovely, and the restaurant staff for breakfast and dinner were attentive and helpful. The quality of the food overall was very good - the buffet dinner especially, with themed nights, offered up a wide range - we are pescatarian and often at buffets we are sold short, however at Baia, they laid on a fantastic range of starters, mains and desserts, with the option to ask the chefs to cook up fresh fish and pasta - outstanding! As for amenities, we think the hotel's own private bit of beach was the highlight. Access requires a bit of a walk that includes a steep flight of rugged steps, but the literal "climb" is worth it - you come out into a small cove with a pebbly, stone beach (so make sure to have the right footwear), but the water is warm, clear, and free from crowds. We spent one morning and one afternoon relaxing on our own stretch of beach and water. The hotel runs a shuttle service to/from Taormina - a great service given the nightmare that is parking in Taormina and costly taxis. The invoices that are presented at checkout could perhaps be more clearly laid out (especially as they are in Italian), but other than that, when we return to Sicily (next time with both of my daughters), we will be looking out for those excellent top-floor rooms again. Grazie a tutti!
Fantastiskt pool område. Fina rum med utmärkt utsikt. Restaurangen mindre bra tråkigt mat. Personal super trevliga
We had a great experience at Hotel Baia Taormina. The food was excellent. The view from the swimming pool to the sea was so beautiful. We also loved the people working there like Valentina, Fabian and Federica. We are definitely coming back to this place. Thank you for everything! ♡
Wonderful place. Fantastic staff, very kind and helpful and always smiling.
The location of the hotel is stunning and the views are breathtaking.
