Wanderstay was a central location to all I planned to explore. It was easy to find and check in. I felt safe in the area as a solo traveler, especially considering the security measures they take on the property with door codes. The shared kitchen area and lobby were always sparkling clean and so was my room. Beds were comfortable and I had all the basic amenities that I needed. Use the towel warmer!It was cool to learn that this property is Black Woman owned. Job well done.
You are close to a train so if you all looking for silence you should consider this bit. I slept through the night just fine and they provide ear plugs and a sound machine.
It was a convenient location to my stay in Houston.
You can hear everything. Conversations in the lobby, people talking in other rooms. Restroom vent super dirty.

First of all:
The ladies at the reception were very nice! The rooms had a cool design and were clean.
Now for the major downsides:
On our first evening, we discovered a large, disgusting cockroach in our room. That was really unpleasant and absolutely should not happen at this price!
The lovely receptionist then came and removed the cockroach.
The rooms are also extremely poorly soundproofed, even with earplugs. You can hear the TV playing in the neighboring room, trains passing by and honking loudly, and so on.
It doesn’t really feel like a hotel, but more like a kind of shared apartment where everyone has their own room and bathroom.
Overall, the value for money is simply not justified

Friendly staff at checkin, nice kitchen facility, towel warmer, modern furnishings and fun design elements. I felt secure.
TV technology was challenging without passwords. Shower slippery. No kleenex.
We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a smaller boutique style experience. Everything was spotless, the room had some unexpected amenities (towel warmer!) parking was free and the bed was comfortable. it’s also conveniently close to the metro, making it easy to get around, and there are plenty of great bars and restaurants in the neighborhood within walking distance.
the hotel is located near a busy railway. Trains do pass by during the night and tend to honk several minutes long, which could be disruptive for light sleepers. Thankfully, the hotel thoughtfully provides earplugs.
