Thank you Booking.com for placing the age restriction (min 21) of this hotel at the very bottom of the page, at the second step of reserving process. Just lost $200 to you guys!
Had an absolutely wonderful stay while here for a work trip last week. Sarah at the front desk was an absolute doll and made my stay extremely comfortable and enjoyable. All of the staff was wonderful to interact with. Room was impeccably clean and comfortable, especially loved the balcony facing Main Street and having my coffee out there in the morning.
Amazing location if you're in the Newark area- easily one of the most walkable communities I've been to for a while that's not a HUGE and super busy city. This area still remained peaceful and quiet at night even though there's so much going on. There are TONS of restaurants, specialty shops, bars, coffee shops, you name it all within a 10 minute walk of the hotel. I especially loved Rooted on Main, an adorable and HUGE boutique shop selling a huge variety of local products. Gifts, jewelry, clothes, cookbooks, sauces, pastas, spices, skincare products, Delaware merch, the list goes on and on. I also really loved The Little Goat coffee roasters (also sold at Rooted), Roots was my favorite lunch spot and Taverna was an excellent Italian dinner. The restaurant and bar at the hotel was great, very reasonably priced for hotel fares and fantastic outdoor seating with a beautiful fire. I do wish they offered room service from the restaurant but it's really not a dealbreaker. Just something to note if you love room service and you're expecting it because of the in-house restaurant. Pool is pretty small but it was always available and quiet. Gym was also very clean, well organized, and always machines available.
Overall I highly recommend this hotel if you're going to be in the area.
Make sure you guys carry your own water because these guys would not offer any. Pay for every single thing after paying $235 per night.
Check-in and check-out were seamless. The stay itself was fine. What followed was anything but.
After checking out of a two-night award stay, my World of Hyatt account reflected both a points charge and a $355 cash charge — a clear double-dip that should never have occurred. What should have been a straightforward billing correction turned into a two-day ordeal spanning four calls to the Globalist line, a call to the front desk, and a direct conversation with GM Ty G.
By the time I reached him, Globalist support had already done the work and resolved the issue — his involvement was largely ceremonial. Yet rather than acknowledge the frustration a guest endured because of his property’s error, he was dismissive and apathetic, treating the entire situation as though it had never happened. When I produced screenshots confirming the erroneous charge, he offered no accountability, no empathy, and no ownership.
I requested a modest points gesture as a goodwill acknowledgment of the time lost and the stress caused. He declined. When I asked to escalate, he claimed he had no manager — a statement that strains credulity for any managed Hyatt property and frankly insults the intelligence of anyone familiar with how hospitality brands operate.
I’m a Globalist member. I understand that status doesn’t entitle anyone to special treatment — but it does reflect a long-standing relationship with the brand, and that relationship deserves to be taken seriously when something goes wrong. What frustrated me most wasn’t the billing error itself. Errors happen. It was the posture of the GM: dismissive, unbothered, and unwilling to own the impact his property’s mistake had on a guest’s time and trust.
I can only hope that future guests — regardless of status — are treated with more care and accountability than I was.
Best place to stay for a terrific UD graduation weekend! Parking, bar, breakfast, view from the room, and friendly staff - all great.
Felt unwelcome as guests here for the entire stay. The “security” team was aggressive and abusive to guests every time our family and kids left or entered the hotel. Will never return.
Great location! Middle of Main Street and campus. Nice bar. Great stay when at u Delaware. Restaurants all around.
Clean hotel very close to the University of Delaware - easy walking distance. Seemed like a very vibrant area. Got the extended room with 2 queens and an extra sofa nook which was nice to sit and read over my materials.
The bar and restaurant downstairs was very busy and a bit loud.
Extremely clean hotel in common areas and the room itself, including the bathroom. Nice lobby bar and great breakfast buffet. Didn't get a chance to use the pool, but did walk through that area, which was spotless as well.
Such a modern and clean hotel in the perfect location! We were in town for a wedding and many guests stayed here as well. We enjoyed the breakfast bar which was plentiful and restocked often. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The rooms on the lower floors, facing the lounge area can be noisy up until around midnight, so if you are a light sleeper, keep that in mind. Other than that, we had the most perfect stay. I would recommend this hotel highly!
