Well kept considering I didn't know pets were allowed in any room but I still felt unease.
Pets were allowed in any room. Dead bolt wouldn't engage with the slot in door frame. I could only use the secondary locking unit. Had to request technical support accessing my room Wi-fi.
It absolutely reeks of marijuana; I am very dissatisfied and will never come here again.
I chose the location due to its proximity to Kings Dominion. I have had decent stays in other Woodspring Suites in the past. The staff at the front desk was friendly.
There was no soap supplied in the bathroom, and the shower sprayed stray water to the side and made the floor wet beyond the bath mat. The in-suite kitchen had absolutely no kitchen items - completely empty. The toilet did not function, as in, it did not seem to be properly plumbed. No water came into the tank from the spigot at the base. Yes I checked, it was on and open. And the tank was bone dry, like it was never hooked up to a water source to begin with.
I liked the location. And, I liked the price, that's about it.
Unauthorized Charges and Unprofessional Conduct – Avoid This Hotel at All Costs!!!
I recently stayed at WoodSping Suites Ashland, VA and was extremely disappointed by the hotel's handling of my checkout and billing. While the room itself was adequate during our stay, the experience was ruined by two unauthorized charges to my credit card after we checked out, combined with shockingly poor customer service.
One day after departure, a $1.53 charge appeared on my card with no explanation. This was followed by a $250 "smoking charge." I have not smoked in over 36 years and did not smoke in the room or anywhere on the property. There was zero evidence of smoking, and no one contacted me during or immediately after my stay to discuss any concerns.
When I called the hotel directly to resolve this, the manager was confrontational, repeatedly talked over me, refused to provide any explanation for either charge, other than stating that I smoked in the room and ultimately hung up on me. I raised my voice and was getting very irritated because I was simply asking for clarification, but she became irritated when I pressed for answers, said "You'll have to contact Choice Hotels corporate office." and then hung up on me. I did escalated the matter by filing a formal complaint with the corporate office and disputing both charges with my credit card company, which I also cancelled for security.
This feels like a blatant attempt to extract extra fees from guests with no legitimate basis. The lack of professionalism, transparency, and basic customer respect is unacceptable. I strongly recommend travelers look elsewhere and protect themselves by documenting everything and monitoring their statements closely.
I will be pursuing this matter further until the charges are reversed. Potential guests deserve better.
The location was good and it was the room was clean
When I arrive had to wait for 7 minutes for someone to come to the front desk and I asked to check in a little earlier the lady tells me no without even checking then I asked to use the restroom and she tells me no cause they don’t have a public bathroom. So I came back at 10pm to check in and again there is no one at the front desk, had to wait another 10 minutes for someone to check me in. The room didn’t have no shampoos and only two towels. It was super noisy with loud music and some beat across from my room. The staff were not helpful at all. Not staying there again.
The price and it was very very clean

Location and price, nice room.
Requested a room by the elevator due to being handicapped with walking and we were in the second to last unit down all the way down the hallway in unit 305 on 3rd floor. I called twice about this prior and was assured I would be accommodated some way. I also mentioned it on check in to. No one ever came to clean our room or give us fresh towels. That was very disappointing. And the cleaning people were right in our hallway with the carts and we're working their way up towards us and we left and came back with the cart still there yet no one came. We also heard through our wall against the headboard fighting and things being thrown at the wall very late at night. It was some kind of domestic violence that was going on we almost called the police. They were in room 303. So there was that as well. It eventually calmed down because one of them left.
Our room didn't have any tissues, or cups for water, etc. Only one wash cloth and bath towel, no hand towels. Dogs barking, the bathroom in the main lobby smelled of urine. We were not comfortable not having anyone on site after 10pm in case we needed anything. Would not recommend or stay here again, no matter the price.
I booked two rooms, the rooms was not ready..I waited almost 3 hours for my rooms. The room wasn't the cleanest. The floors was sticky and there was a toothpick on the night stand by the light.
My rooms was not ready, wasnt clean
I liked the concept of a "suite" as i have a dog and am traveling long hours. So it gives her a little space.
1. First room i was given was never cleaned
2. 2nd room - toilet is broken. No water in tank. I tell them, the lady comes up w a bucket fills the tank flushes it, says i wont have the problem again. Guess what, i had the problem again. Problem is the tank isnt filling with water!
3. My shower ran out of hot water last night 5 min into shower. Ran out this morning as well.
4. My key didnt work last night for the front door. One staffers response, use another door. Seriously? I was given a 2nd key that worked, by another staff member
5. Room had NO hand towels, no kitchenware. Its a suite!
*** you may ask why****
This hotel is run more like low income housing, than a hotel. The family above me was running and screaming banging all night last night and this morning. It was so loud my dog startled. Wtf!
Not clean l, bad odor and cockroaches had to leave
Not clean and cockroaches had to leave property and find new place to stay at 11pm. I asked for a refund.
the bed slept comfortable and the room size was adequate.
upon arrival there was some disruptive situation going on outside, which continued the checking in process to be delayed, seeing that the desk attendant was outside trying to deescalate the situation, which resulted in the police coming!
the lobby table was dirty, so had to ask for something to clean it with, which was a process!
room was satisfactory, yet had no soap, tissues, and shampoo products!
the location was a challenge for me personally being beside the highway which was active all night long!
the redeeming factor to the stay was that Bass Pro was next door and it offered options for shopping, bathroom with soap, and a restaurant!
