A gem of a hotel with exceptional, understated staff - elegance without appearing to try.
Pros:

The casual but attentive graciousness of the staff fit the hotel perfectly. We had never been to Marfa, but we immediately felt like we had been to the hotel our entire lives. The architectural details of the place represent the craft and the artistry of the community so well. We wish we had booked a longer stay.

Cons:

I wish we had been there on a day when the hotel restaurant was open. The bar was still great.

Wer hochmoderne, sterile Zimmer sucht, ist hier falsch – hier regiert die Nostalgie (was für mich aber gerade den Reiz ausmachte).

While it is still a classic West Texas Hotel, it is in need of serious updating. The bathroom was tiny and while clean, it looked dirty.

Cons:

Hotel Friday night had no hot water. They were working on it Saturday morning when I checked out. The only other issue was that the female bartender ignored us when we were the first couple in the bar. She waited on friends first who came in a little bit after us. She also spent time training a new employee which she should have done before the bar opened.
