Great place for a great price.
This is a very cool hotel and it totally fits the Mew Orleans/French Quarter vibes. Every room is uniquely designed with a theme and the bed is very comfortable. I had one of the best night of sleep. The price is definitely worth it. There is a plenty of free parking in front.
I had a great stay. I wish I could have stayed longer. I highly recommend the Saturday brunch. You don’t want to miss it.
Key things missing: small fridge/microwave, coffee maker, and parking!. The person at the desk upon arrival did not even tell us there was coffee in the little hidden alcove downstairs. So, the first morning was a bummer. I found out from the man who fixed our room problem on the second night. The place is unique with charm and has potential. The pool is nice too. Those key things would make a huge difference.
It was as pictured online. The neighboring building is a mess, like a crack house but they stay was nice
Not a bad hotel. Great staff. Nice lobby, lounge and pool amenities just a bit noisy with the music in lounge/pool area. But they manages to stop in a reasonable amount of time. Very unique and cool atmosphere.
The front desk was very kind. The room was ok and pretty clean. But the bed was flimsy and the walls are paper thin. I could hear everything and I’m not a light sleeper.
Staff was great and accommodating but we couldn’t sleep due to the noise level of the club downstairs.
The heat in my room was broken (room was 63°) and the hotel was full so I had to leave and find a new hotel. Maintenance and the managers seemed to be off property so no real apology was issued.
The front desk was very professional and courteous! We enjoyed the music as well!
We stayed in the Little Richard suite. I just wished the shower pressure was a little better. Other than that I give it a 10!
The property didn’t have much amenities , the price did not match the quality of the property
Sunday brunch is great! Friendly staff
Everything very good
We love the room and staff. Would definitely recommend
The property is charming and a great nod to NOLA history. I will definitely stay there again!
The bus line is right in front of the hotel which goes downtown and quick walk to bourbon street
Next to a main road, thin walls/windows, could hear vehicular noise all night, despite earplugs. I expected the noise from the lounge, which ended at 12:30/1 am, could feel the bass pretty well.
staff was nice and helpful , place is clean and it’s very close to the dome .
Unsafe, thin walls, no front desk help after hours. Not only was my doors’ lock falling off its hinges when I initially checked in, my in-house phone didn’t work, and I found no towels in my room which made me believe no one had cleaned the room or inspected it. The first night I had to share a room/bed with my friends because no one has at the front desk after 11pm to help them get inside their room after their key was lost. This hotel has inside and outdoor rooms, mine was located in the outside part, where you could hear phone conversations from your next door neighbors and everything that was going on downstairs or outside the room. On the third day of my stay I asked for my room to be cleaned, I returned to an untouched room. Overall the experience was lacking and disappointing.
The Iris Motel is a recently renovated -boutique motel, in an up-and-coming area of New Orleans. Aesthetically, it is absolutely adorable (especially the pool) and, even though it is a -no frills- type of property, they provide you with everything you need. For the price, you really can not ask for more!
A couple of things to know…
There is no one on-site to manage the property, but I had no issues and feel certain that if I had, the local team would have responded quickly. (As a single female traveler, though, I would have felt safer with a security guard on the premises).
The property is not brand-new, and the rooms are not fully sound proof. I could hear typical city noises, from outside, but, I’m from midtown Atlanta, so it didn’t bother me one bit! Just something to consider if you prefer absolute silence.
Lastly, thank you to the management team for the hand written welcome note and the handmade friendship bracelets (with my name on it!) that I found at check-in, in honor of the Taylor Swift concert that was taking place, the weekend I was there. It was such a thoughtful surprise and made my visit even more memorable!
I can not wait to go back to New Orleans and would be thrilled to stay at The Iris Motel again, in the future!
