Disappointing and over-priced
Pros:

Close and easy to get to from the ferry dock; reasonably easy to reach the station (uphill).
Cleaning staff respected our 'do not disturb' and didn't come in to clean during our stay, and reception agreed that the room needed a deep clean as I had a significant cough while there.
View from the window was stunning.
The cafe below the hotel serves good food and excellent pastries (but breakfast NOT included in the price)

Cons:

It didn't help that we'd just stayed at Casa King in Como before coming here, and yes - this is a 1 star hotel.
Checking-in was a nightmare - the app didn't work and reception staff on WhatsApp weren't overly helpful. I was given the master code, and had to insist on the room code being changed the following morning. Not happy with security.
The bathroom is barely functional for anyone over size 12 US / 16 UK - the entry door is split providing less than standard width, then you'll catch yourself on the shower every time you use the basin.
The bedroom looked nothing like most of the Booking.com photos (possibly like photo 12 but that wasn't our room).
There was no breakfast as mentioned in other reviews.
Very poor value for money.

Pros:

The location was wonderful. Close to downtown, train, and ferry. Easy to access and only one flight of stairs up with an elevator. Rooms were clean and the breakfast downstairs was excellent. Highly recommend the Beretta Hotel.

Cons:

Wifi was not reliable during our stay.

Matteo the receptionist/host is amazing ! Very helpful knowledgeable, let us check in early/leave suitcases for no charge

Excelente ubicación, limpio y sencillo
Pros:

Me encantó la ubicación, está a una cuadra del lago, si bien no tiene desayuno, en la habitación hay cafetera con las cápsulas, té, azúcar y snacks. Ademas en el baño te dejan hasta hisopos y limas de uñas! El colchón y la ropa blanca muy bien! Lo pasamos genial! Ahh! Y abajo, hay una cafetería donde se puede desayunar o comer.

Cons:

Si bien el hotel es sencillo, no le pongo 5* ( teniendo en cuenta calidad/precio)porque las habitaciones tenían alfombra roja, y eso, para mi, le baja mucho el nivel. Aclaro q estaban limpias, pero me parecen horribles a la vista y ademas x la higiene.Este tipo de piso no va más.

La chambre était propre, spacieuse, la literie confortable. Le Check-in à distance était facile et pratique.

Cons:

Le fait d’avoir une chambre au 1er étage et au dessus du bar, nous avons été réveillés à 6h par la musique à l’ouverture.

Pros:

Siamo stati solo per una notte, nella camera vista lago. Ci siamo trovati bene dal momento che è dotato di tutti i servizi necessari. Abbiamo apprezzato molto il kit di benvenuto con merenda dolce e salata, acqua fresca e la macchinetta a cialde per fare il caffè. Tante volte basta poco per fare la differenza. Ci torneremo di sicuro.

Залишились на одну ніч в Варені , все супер дуже зручно , все є для зручного перебування , все чисто і охайно , привітний персонал . Дозволили лишити речі у номері до заселення що дуже зручно . І на першому поверсі у них є кафе де можна смачно поїсти , рекомендую

Nous recommandons ce petit hôtel, vraiment niveau qualité prix il vaut le coup et j’y retournerai quand je reviendrais.

On a été accueilli avec gentillesse et professionnalisme.
La chambre était au dessus de mes espérances, elle était propre, confortable, agréable et équipée.
Nous avions vu sur le lac c’était magnifique.
A 2 min à pied du lac et des bateaux vraiment top
Et à côté de la gare varenna
