Gritty, inner-city pub vibe
Pros:

Did not stay. I spent a few minutes looking around the room and left. Did not check out the rest of the place. Bathroom looked nice though. Friendly man checked me in.

Cons:

Hotel does not match the photos or the description. I was expecting an elegant, quiet, sophisticated venue. Instead it's got a "gritty, inner-city pub", party vibe. Place was busy and loud at 2pm.
My room was over the public bar, had scuffed walls, no double glazing to the window overlooking six lanes of traffic. Window had a cracked pane of glass and no security. I did not feel safe.

Cons:

Not suited for families. Didnt realise at first very explicit pictures on the wall.
I was here with my daughter. Not cool.
But even as a women i do not appreciate having half naked women pushed in my face.

Was not helped getting bags up.

Does not cater for gluten free which is really something to consider in this day and age

Lastly the room i was not sure if it was a very badly done lime wash or mould on the walls.
There were alsp alot of suitcases scuffs over thw wall everywhere.

Superb Stay at The Strand
Pros:

The location was perfect. It was close to the city for walking but if tired the bus was 20 metres down the road. It was close to Oxford Arts building, the Australian Museum and The Cross. There was a Woolworths metro for anything forgotten across the road. The Strand was a pub and very good drinks and food were available. The rooms were so good, and I didn't hear any outside noise and the beds were excellent.

Cons:

Nothing. It was easy to get around. The staff were wonderful. It was all too easy. I wish I'd stayed longer to get to the beach.

I’d stay there again in a second.
Pros:

At first I was worried I’d made a mistake booking a hotel with two bars because I was worried it would be noisy. But the room was quiet and the bed was super comfortable. Small bathroom but had everything you need.

The building was full of character and charm. Beautiful old building with fun and quirky photography throughout the corridors. Upstairs terrace was lovely. Downstairs the food was simple but high quality pub food and the mulled wine was the perfect moody drink and delicious.

Cons:

There was an issue with the hot water but that was repaired super quickly.
