Family Hotel

We got there and they told us they had cancelled our booking last-minute, but hadn't informaed us of this. I actually had a reply from them earlier that morning via Booking.com email messages saying they accepted our check-in time, so between that morning and the afternoon they mysteriously gave away our booking even though we had already paid in full. We were told "we should have realised that our booking price was too cheap for Bathurst race weekend" - we had booked almost 12 months in advance to ensure we got the rooms we wanted, and we were somehow supposed to have known that the price that was advertised and booked was not high enough?! Absolutely ludicrous. We kicked up a fuss because of course we had nowhere else to go and had already paid in full, so in the end they "found" two other rooms that were available, but one was a double bed instead of two singles, so my two employees had no choice but to share a bed, which they were unhappy about. And then to add insult to injury, the hotel insisted we had to pay the difference in price between the price we originally paid when booking 10 months+ in advance, and the room rate they were charging now, which was inflated for race weekend. Totally criminal behaviour. We put in a formal complaint with Booking.com as soon as we got home, and they told us they will ensure the hotel pays us back the additional money the made us pay, as well as some compensation for the fact that we were forced to take a double bed when we had ordered and paid for two rooms with two single beds each. DO NOT book this hotel. They are total crooks. The rooms were decidedly average and the whole experience was miserable.

Music was very loud down stairs in the early hours of the morning, completely ridiculous

Single bed, no hot water in one shower, tv mounted to roof so hard to watch, other guests way to loud

The shared bathroom did not have any lights working, this hotel doe not like to hand out tax reciepts when it is law. The lady owner is lovely but her husband is rude and made a rude sexualising remark to my partner about mermaids and vag_nas, she was highly offended.

One thing I didn't quite understand was why the blankets were tucked in by a sheet on top. It looked like I had no blankets at all and didn't find them until after midnight on my first night. There also seemed to be no hot water upstairs though perhaps some guests used a lot of it before I did. Wouldn't be the first time.
