Beautiful hotel with excellent service. The spa is top notch with a great sauna and human and nice inside pool. Everything is super clean and well appointed. High quality linens and amenities. We loved the restaurant too, be it a bit pricey. Anyway, we loved the hotel and will be back this coming weekend!
Amazing Hotel, beautiful, comfortable, elegant, cozy…
Loved the modern style and luxury of this hotel, the quality of the bed, bathroom fixtures, towels, coffee (Lavazza in room)
Didn’t like how dim in room lighting was and gym a bit sub par for a luxury hotel.
Other issues:
- I arrived after 11 PM, and person at front was unable to check me in and took >10 minutes to get someone who could. Did not offer me welcome drinks that came with my reservation; had to ask someone else the next day. inflexible with a late checkout without paying, and although let me to use the gym there was no place to shower. Overall, I felt checkout experience was overly rigid considering I departed on a non sold out Sunday.
The other disappointment was persistent notification of staff about a broken bracket/handwash on floor. Staff said would fix multiple times and never did.
Twice came into broken cleanser, and bracket on the floor
Beautifully appointed.
Un magnifique hotel! Très propre, calme et service exceptionnel. Le fait que l’hotel ne soit pas en plein centre-ville ne nous a pas dérangé, et rendait les trajets du matin et du soir plutôt charmant le long des quais.
5 Star staff in a nice 4 star hotel. On the north edge of Bordeaux in an area that is gentrifying . The beautiful old building’s facade was kept and a very modern new hotel built behind it.
The secret of this hotel is the fabulous
Super clean is amazing a restaurant food was exceptional. I’m having definitely be back beautiful Hotel.
Brilliantly designed room. Exuded a sense of style and comfort. Loved my brief stay in it.
Unfortunately they take a deposit from you when you stay here which they don’t return to you - my card was charged in full upon check in - $1250 - and they are not returning it. I have tried reaching out to them multiple times, and they tell me each time that it just takes a while to return to the card. It has been almost 2 months since the initial charge - so I’d say they are just keeping my deposit money.
It is meant to be used towards food you have etc - but my tally didn’t warrant keeping my whole deposit. It’s really terrible practise, and is basically theft.
I otherwise had a lovely stay - so this really is a shame as it isn’t reflective of my time spent at the hotel. My experience was a good one overall - but this made me never want to return sadly, and has tainted the experience for me.
Beautifully appointed room. Quiet and private location. Well appointed gym although very small. Nice pool and sauna but with weird rules that aren’t obviously published anywhere - expect a telling off from the ‘wellness’ staff if you don’t follow the mystery rules! Bar is very nice, a great space to relax and service there was outstanding. Restaurant looked lovely too, but with dinner service not starting until 7pm, we didn’t bother - plenty of other equally good/better options nearby. We didn’t have a car, but the bus and trams in Bordeaux are cheap, regular and safe, and the hotel is less than five minutes from stops in almost every direction.
great facilities, lovely staff and overall a great hotel. Restaurant is good but I wouldn't bother with breakfast as there are plenty bakeries nearby.
Overall the stay at this hotel was excellent from check in, to breakfast, through dinner and cocktail options as well as the amenities, everything was well thought through. My only comments are that we did not receive our VIP perks, water was €12 & with the temperatures this is excessive even for a 5* hotel. Finally the aircon was great but every evening it was turned off so in the evening it was difficult to sleep.
I was sexually assaulted from a male masseuse during a massage at this hotel while vacationing alone from the US. I tried to contact the hotel and wrote a police report. They made no efforts to support me. I didn’t get any calls back from a manager. They weren’t even cooperative when I asked for his name. I had to pick his face out of a line up provided by the police. I’ve received no follow up. Very disappointed at the hospitality overall by the staff protecting this predator
Architecturally the hotel is very pleasing to the eye with the limestone exterior and modern entrance. The hotel is in very good condition and smells lovely. All of the facilities were excellent and clean. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Valentin, Enzo, Pierre and Barbara. The rooms and bathroom were very stylish and clean. The hotel was busy but there was minimal noise in the rooms even at the weekend. Food in the restaurant was good but I wouldn’t really bother with breakfast. There are plenty of bakeries nearby. The restaurant manager, Clemance, came over to talk to us and was very pleasant, as was Elodie who served us. While the hotel is far from the golden triangle you can get there in 10 minutes in an uber or the tram which is less than 10 minutes walk away. I preferred the distance as Chartrons is quieter. There are lots of restaurants nearby especially around Halle Des Chartrons. The pizza place next to the hotel is good for a quick pizza. I didn’t go for a swim but the pool looked very nice. The gym has 2 treadmills, a rower and an elliptical. There are plenty of weights but only one bench. All the equipment is new techno gym. The courtyard is also great to sit in. I would definitely stay again and recommend the hotel.
We stayed at the Mondrian Bordeaux for five nights in August 2025 booked through the Amex FH+R program. We found our stay to be ok.
It’s a newer hotel built into a historic building bordering a residential neighborhood in Bordeaux. The rooms are nice (as a result of the newness), with adequate size but aren’t quite the luxury or quality you would expect from other five star international luxury chains in Europe (like Relais and Chateaux). I think the photos on the website probably make the interior of the hotel and the rooms look a bit nicer and more expansive than in reality.
We had a Premier King room and were not offered an upgrade at check-in through the potential Amex benefits. Our room overlooked an apartment building next door. It wasn’t a nice view from the room.
Breakfast was served each morning in the attached Morimoto restaurant as buffet style. Breakfast was pretty good and the team at breakfast were welcoming and clearly worked hard. While there was a decent selection of food, the food was the same every day. So, it may get a bit monotonous if staying for more than a few days. Cocktails at the bar were nice when the bar wasn’t busy. When busy, bar service in the restaurant areas wasn’t very attentive.
The indoor pool is chic and was a nice reprieve from hot days. There is a small gym that was never crowded. We didn’t try any spa treatments.
The luggage bell staff were all nice and often opened doors and greeted guests.
Other than service at breakfast, drinks at the bar, and bell staff, we felt the general hotel service to be below average to average at best. On check-in day, we arrived at the hotel around 1:00pm. Our room was not ready and we were not offered an early check in through the Amex FH+R benefits as is often offered when available (although Mondrian had a €30 paid early checkin option through their app which seems like rooms were available but not offered to us). In fact, we weren’t able to check in until nearly 3:30pm (after the normal published hotel arrival time). We spent the afternoon in the outdoor bar area having drinks as we were told by staff when we arrived our room would be ready in under an hour. It wasn’t. Then, around 3pm the check in line became quite long due to guests arriving; multiple guests were clearly frustrated at the wait time. Only two staff were checking in guests and they clearly were overwhelmed. Check-in and check out seemed unnecessarily long and onerous for a modern hotel. After waiting behind a few guests who arrived after us, we were finally able to get keys to our room. Regarding further service issues, our room was not cleaned twice in the mornings during our stay. Evening turn down service was missed once.
The location of the hotel is about a 15 minute/~€15 from the city center pedestrian zone by taxi or Uber. It’s a 11 minute walk to the river and adjacent tram station. It’s a 15-20 minute drive to the main train station in Bordeaux.
Overall, the Mondrian in Bordeaux has a chic exterior and pool area and good cocktails. The pretty and historical exterior doesn’t quite make up for the average service, “premier” rooms with no worthwhile view, and a pretty bad arrival experience. On return to Bordeaux, we would likely stay somewhere else, given the hotel’s price point and impersonal, average service.
Surrounding area is really not nice at all but property is fine and tram walkable in 10 mins. Service was hit and miss.
Nice facilities and room - clearly 5* - but food, location and general disorganisation when busy take the shine off the experience. Somewhat far from Bordeaux centre and area around the hotel fairly dirty ad unattractive.
Very attractive rooms and facilities. The air conditioning was not up to its yask on a sweltering day; room was very warm and humid. Staff was attentive and nice
Hotel 100%
Hotel Staff were fantastic, friendly and attentive. Room cleaning was 100% and the pool area fantastic. HOWEVER - restaurant staff were the opposite :
-Asked for Menu 3 times on one occasion - did not turn up
-4 of 5 drinks delivered to us had spilled on they tray
-Food delivered when places was not set - had to wait further for implements
-When requesting milk for the room - 2 x we’ll deliver it to your room failed - so waiting in reception was the option that worked
- Free drinks voucher was met with - non non non .. you must order from a different drinks menu ?? Of course this turned up once after 3 requests ..
TEACH your menu staff how to use a Tray and concentrate for more than 30 seconds when someone has a request.
Food was good when you managed to get some .
Restaurant - major FAIL!
