We checked out yesterday morning after a deeply disappointing three-night stay that fell well short of what a hotel at this price point should deliver.
ARRIVAL & CHECK-IN
The experience began badly. Our taxi was unable to stop at the entrance — the driver was pressured to move on by a bus driver — leaving us to locate a luggage trolley and transport our own bags from around the corner. At reception, there was no staff member present. We were directed to telephone a duty manager who took fifteen minutes to arrive. This is not an acceptable welcome.
ROOM
The room itself was comfortable enough, and the bed was good. However, housekeeping had clearly not been thorough: sticky ring marks left by glasses from a previous guest were visible on surfaces. The lighting was very bright with no dimming capability, which made the room feel institutional rather than relaxing. The bathroom was adequate, though there was no non-slip mat for what is a noticeably slippery shower — fortunate that we had brought our own. The hairdryer was pushed untidily to the back of the shelf beneath the basin and had a sticky handle — a reliable indicator that it had not been wiped down after use.
SERVICE
This is where the stay failed most significantly. On our second morning, we again needed to contact reception, only to find the same instruction: phone the duty manager. It is apparent that staffing has been reduced to a level that does not support a functioning front-of-house operation. When we enquired about coffee after the restaurant had closed at 10:30, the response was a reluctant offer to make some — hardly confidence-inspiring. We chose to go out instead.
OVERALL
Having paid in full in advance, we felt trapped. Had that not been the case, we would have left after the first night. This stay cast a shadow over our time in Adelaide, and we would not return to or recommend this property.
Everytime I stay here I get the queen room, this room has the feature of a bed with chairs and a small coffee table! This time I got a queen room with an office desk and a very uncomfortable chair! I paid the exact same price for both rooms! I was expecting the queen room with 2 chairs and coffee table! Why charge the same price for the shoe box version! Disappointing! When I got to my room an noticed I went straight to reception but no staff member came out to serve. after waiting awhile I figured I would go back to the tiny tiny room, with nothing comfortable to sit on! And just put up with it!
The shower head wasn’t the best quality and hash browns would have been nice with the buffet breakfast
Parking is inconvenient
Location
I like the property but the booking website was misleading
Easy walk to festival and Rundle mall
No microwave in room
We have stayed here before, it’s very accommodating for a person with disabilities
Our only issue this time staying was, we arrived were given our keys, when we got to our room we were very disappointed as it wasn’t the disability room we requested, we were told that the disabled room wasn’t available as it had plumbing issues, they assured us that it was going to be repaired the next morning, they offered us the premium room for one night, but unfortunately the bathroom couldn’t be accessed by the wheelchair, so no shower and every time the toilet was needed we had to go down to the foyer to use a disabled toilet, I would have appreciated an email fore warning us of this issue so we could have arranged other accommodation, it was very stressful, they were very apologetic and we were given the right room by the following afternoon
Lovely comfortable bed and pillows. Walking distance to all Adelaide places of interest.
