The property is a hidden gem in the city , I just loved everything about it
The noise of garbage trucks through the night on little Bourke st
Location and size of rooms
Dehumidifier running all night. Unfortunate Necessity
The location was very good.
1. The photos of the 2 apartments on line were not accurate. Led to confusion on arrival and required a switch of guests. 2. The so described ‘deluxe’ apartment whilst bigger and with more amenities was not identified as only being partly renovated and work only just completed. Definitely not worth the extra money. Have supporting photos. 3. The pool was closed when we arrived and only opened when we complained as it was the key reason we booked this accommodation. 4. We were given 2 ‘actual’ keys for the first day while the virtual keys on our phones were sorted. We were a party of 3 adults. After that we could only access the front door using the 2 fob type keys which meant at times we had to wait till someone else used their fob key to get in and we followed behind. Raises concern about security of the facility.

Problem with plumbing
The convenience, helpful staff, and large space. Very disappointed that the good sized pool was closed in summer! Pool was the reason why I booked.
Pool closed in summer. Without doubt the best selling point of this accommodation.
Great location, steps away from the city centre, shows, shops, restaurants and city sights.
The door keys using your phone are a great idea but we still had trouble opening the door to enter the building and get in. You need to provide better instructions on what to do with the door handle. We also met other guests having trouble with entering the building and finding their room. Finding your room is challenging. Instructions should be provided on which floor rooms are on.
Perfectly located in a very nice area within the Melbourne CBD, easy access to everything without the noise. The building was one of the first Public Housing Buildings within the CBD built by a group of Philanthropists in the late 1800s, early 1900s to house workers wives and families. The building has an impressive history and is very well maintained, and is to this day a hybrid of lodgers; from owners, renters and hotel guests, and with the addition of the cafe, Little Gordon, makes it a reliable and enjoyable staple for a Melbourne Stay.
Water pressure and heat can be compromised in some apartments, but certainly not all, and the free hotel wifi can struggle in the evenings when many people are using it.
Location great. Close to many restaurants and theatre. Once I figured out the electronic key I was sorted and good to go. Staff helped me work out the key via phone which was very helpful.
The location is amazing! the building is beautiful!
Loved the cafe downstairs. Very relaxed and comfy.
Catered for ourselves and found kitchen crockery etc limited, only provided with one dishwasher tablet, no oven trays
No reception on premises - we were “upgraded” to superior 2 bedroom apartment that we discovered when returning on first evening had no hot water, so had to call and talk to young and pleasant employee who then had to call someone else(? Manager)? and then call us back. We were relocated to another apartment 2 floors up in a maze like building with no clear directions about how to get there. Also frustrating were the instructions about payment- I understood that payment would be taken from my debit account the day before arrival. This did not happen and I arrived in Melbourne, having left my debit card in Perth as I had another card for my trip, to find a message asking me to process payment myself - I had to call and after some consultations (with unseen manager again I suspect) the girl was allowed to process the payment as I had originally expected. All the girls we spoke to were very pleasant but clearly had no authority to make decisions: no manager ever spoke to us, and we received no apology for the no hot water relocation issue - the sister I was travelling with is 81 and had to haul her case up steps and along long corridors to relocate. Needless to say, we would never stay there again.
The room we had was very old and really not worth the money. There was a vape left in the room from either staff or a previous occupant.
The location.
I loved the quaint building and the gorgeous coffee shop. Location was easy, and the pool was surprisingly warm as the design stopped the wind. Massive apartment, dark - great for sleeping.
Tricky to find your room at first as the building is a rabbit Warren. There is no reception.desk, it is an air bnb.
I loved the quiet area and the handy location for public transport. The kitchen set up was great as I want expecting some of the extras.
The bathroom was very clean but it had a musty smell in it. May have just been ventilation.
We were luck to be upgraded and our room was exceptionally. I would definitely book there again. And the furnishings were fabulous, I am looking for where I can buy the couch! And what a bonus the pool was!
We really liked being so central to everything and, despite being right on Little Bourke Street, our room was surprisingly quiet. Also, the apartment was larger and better appointed then we expected.
I realize it's an old building but some of the plumbing was a bit rugged. The toilet's cistern kept running on a bit, water seeped out of the toilet's water inlet, the shower's pipes screamed quite a bit and water seeps out of the base of the hot water tap to the kitchen sink. Also, the toilet light bulb needs replacing. But really, these were minor things and really didn't spoil our stay.
