Car parking is an issue …
We ride bikes and we are not allowed to put 2 bikes in 1 carpark which is pretty sad .. just takes up space for no reason … rooms very small and handles to shower and toilet broken
Very nice boutique feel hotel in great location - close to pretty much everything in the CBD. Room was spacious and modern - plenty of space for 2 people. Beds were super comfy and love that the room had a coffee pod machine.
Check in was a little clumsy and not as stream-lined as some so took a little longer than usual but staff were very friendly
Upon arrival, the staff were super friendly and welcoming. Ellie was exceptionally helpful and caring, from helping us sort out the carparking, to giving us helpful hints and tips for navigating our way around Melbourne. Our room was beautiful and clean and the bed was super comfortable. You couldn't get a better location being central to everything in the CBD
There was nothing we didn't like about our stay. The Howey and its staff exceeded our expectations.
The floor plan is great, the shower is so nice, the couch and the bed are both so comfortable and the TV’s are huge, great way to relax in the city
Nothing
The room was quite nice
I can only think of one word for the staff: rude. They were unhelpful, surly and quite obnoxious at times. Our expensive deluxe king room was one metre from a concrete wall and had no natural light, very poor value for money.
There wasn't much to like with this property, especially at the price point. I guess the bed was comfortable, that's as far as the positive review goes unfortunately.
The staff were truely awful and I whole heartedly believe they should all find different career choices.
First staff encounter outright lied to my face about room upgrade availability. Twice!
The next staff member was so inflexible and rude when I had issues paying with my card - until I said I would have to cancel my booking and stay elsewhere because they wouldn't accept a cash deposit - she would suddenly accept cash. I then went to the ATM with the same card I was having issues with on their terminal and withdrew cash, no problem at all.
Then, when I checked into my room, the smell of sewage was so strong, it made me feel unwell. Rather than having to deal with the unhelpful staff and ask for a room change (since they were already lying about availability) - I reported the smell to them and asked them to fix while I was out to dinner - they did this but made zero acknowledgment of me or the issue when I returned. The saw me and said nothing. Not even hello or welcome back.
The next morning when checking out. Oh my god, the bad attitude on the guy at reception was jaw dropping. It wouldn't kill these staff to smile and be welcoming, not a single one of them were. I even watched them check other people in and all of them received the same treatment. It was actually shocking to watch.
Not in a million years would I stay here or recommend it to anyone.
All this and I haven't even mentioned the location. Don't bother, honestly.
Great location with many stores and restaurants in comfortable walking distance for a great day/night out.
When we arrived the apartment had smelt as though someone had recently used the toilet, which left the room stinking for a good half hour as we settled in. The sewerage pipes also went off at about 5am waking us up as it was very loud and right next to the bed
The hotel and room itself were great loved the style CBD position close to shops, transport and cafe down stairs. The staff were super helpful I had an early flight long before check in and they were able to get me into my room asap 😃
NO
This trip was a total of five nights, yet it resulted in an extremely unpleasant travel experience for me.
During the first two days of my stay, the hotel’s air conditioning was not functioning. The entire 6th floor had no air conditioning, and the hotel was unable to fix the issue. Although the staff later assisted in changing my room to what was described as a better room on the 8th floor, I soon realized that this was an even worse experience.
Inside the hotel room, I could hear intermittent but persistent abnormal noises, similar to the sound of an engine starting. These noises occurred not only during the daytime but also late at night, to the extent that I had to wear headphones just to fall asleep. After reporting this issue to the front desk, I was told they could help arrange another room change. However, after I packed my luggage and went downstairs, the front desk staff then informed me that they were unable to change my room after all. May I ask—was asking me to change rooms meant to be a joke?
As we still had onward travel plans to Melbourne, we were unwilling to continue staying at this hotel. This is the first time I have ever given such a negative review to a hotel, and it has severely affected my experience as a first-time visitor to Melbourne. 👎
Central location
Receptionist staff did not seem too well trained nor professional. Cleaning staff can be heard from inside the room talking on the phone as they clean other rooms. Bathroom in the lobby was very dirty.
Incredible location, a true Melbourne stay in the heart of the city. Beautiful cafes, shops and restaurants within metres of the hotel.
Rooms were large, sound proof and well designed. Will definitely stay again.
