The best location for visiting Porto
Lovely hotel and rooms are big and clean. The tv had some english movie channels which was great. The staff are very friendly. I went on bed & breakfast basic but if I return i would go room only. The breakfast fruit selection, pastries etc were excellent but i didnt like the eggs or other things on offer. The coffee was great. In saying that i would totally return and would recomnend this gorgeous hotel to friends and family. Great value, so close to metro, so close to shops, bars & restaurants. Really charming
I stayed at this hotel with my mom last weekend, and we were truly impressed. The place has a beautiful, stylish design and a lovely garden that creates such a peaceful atmosphere. The location is also perfect — close to everything we needed.
But the real highlight of our stay was the hotel staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with any question or request. A huge thank you to them for making our stay so pleasant!
The only downside was that the walls are a bit thin, so we could sometimes hear our neighbors. Other than that, everything was wonderful, and we’d be happy to come back again.
Fantastic old world feel, spacious room with high ceilings that looked out to peaceful garden-nice break from busy streets of Porto
We had a lovely stay here. Our room was adorable and the staff were great. I forgot to ask her name but the evening receptionist was SO friendly and helped us book our library tickets online.
Helpful staff. Clean and spacious room. Modern bathroom. Didn't have the breakfast there.
Rooms were very small. No room for luggage.
Very close to all things including the metro.
The room we stayed #112 had a strong sewage smell coming from the bathroom. Even though we placed the sign requesting cleaning, no one ever came to clean the room. On the positive side, the bed was comfortable, and both the bed linens and towels were of very good quality.
Hotel is very well located and excellent breakfast. Staff are helpfull although room cleaning was a little challanging to coordinate even with 24 hours notice
Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful! The property conditions were poor. One of the bedside plugs was broken, the bathroom door handle fell off, and there was a large crack shower stall. The staff arranged to have these fixed within a day. There is a lot of walking downhill to the duoro river meaning lots of uphill coming back to the hotel.
Very smooth check in. We arrived early, the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, stored our luggage, let us use their lounge .
The hotel service is not what is advertised. For instance, on their website, they state check in starts at 2:00 p.m. It does not, it starts at 4:00 p.m., is very slow, and took about 50 minutes. There were many that were irate and waiting way longer than us. The hotel staff offered no explanation and were abrupt when a customer tried to ask them to explain the reason for such delays. The lobby was full of people waiting to check-in.
I chose this hotel for two reasons, in-room safe which is very important to me, and laundry service. We booked a superior room which stated it included a safe. When we got there, there was no in room safe and if we wanted one, we had to go to the lobby and they would give us one. No way am I putting my valuables in a safe not bolted down to anything. So, I had to carry a larger bag everywhere I went as I wasn't leaving my valuables unsecured.
The second reason I chose this hotel was because they advertised laundry which I have used many times when traveling. I choose to do carry on and my plan was to send out laundry upon arrival to the hotel, we were spending four nights there. When I inquired, I was told that it would take 3-4 days for pick up of my laundry and 3-4 days to return it. So, an 8 day turnaround which how many travelers spend 8 days in one place? The reception then directed me to find a laundry up the hill as that is where they direct guests. I had no interest in wasting my vacation doing laundry and luckily I could manage the rest of my vacation by getting creative and handwashing items. Not the same quality clean. False advertising!
The hotel sent me a survey, I stated both and received no response. Also, Porto is a party city, something I didn't know. We paid extra for a city view.. forget it, the hotel is four stories high and all you see is another building, no view above. People party until dawn, scream and chant in the streets. We didn't want to move once settled, but first two nights sleep was at a minimum as college kids were celebrating returning to school. There were megaphones and chanting and screaming for two nights. Last two nights we were only awoken occasionally. Ask not to have a street view and maybe there are other rooms that are quiet. We wish we knew about Guaia which is just across the bridge and much quieter. The hotel was worn out, lobby carpet dirty. The room itself was clean, shower had no water pressure, and the bed was a three inch mattress on a platform that slid off the base.
If you are looking to party non stop then this location is for you. But watch out for what the hotel advertises isn't what they actually offer. Never saw a bartender at their bar either.
1. First room given the tv was not working - and was thankfully moved to another room.
2. Second room - extremely noisy throughout from noise from the street. No soundproofing of any sort.
3. Powercut in at 5/6am - no emergency lights anywhere, especially on stairs, no staffs to inform or communicate whats going on. And when staff did turn up - did not provide any information. We had a 8am tour booked for that day so could not shower, no breakfast. Telephones in room not working too due to no power. The Hotel should at the very least have an emergency generator and emergency lighting.
4. Some of the staff could have been more friendly - they seemed not happy or really did not want to be doing their jobs.
5. Rooms are quite dated and oddly shaped and designed - e,g: power sockets not in convenient places.
5. Excellent location.
The location was excellent, the staff were super friendly and the room and breakfast were great. Only suggestion I would have is that the hotel improves its entrance by removing the black curtains and the large fringed lampshades to create a better first impression
Close to everything
Superb location. Ornate period building with modern facilities. Gorgeous courtyard. Breakfast superb buffet. Obliging staff. Definitely worth a few nights to make Porto an unforgettable experience.

Loved this place. It had so much character and was like stepping back in time except with modern amenities. My room had a balcony with view of the lovely garden and the Clerigos Tower. Air conditioned (Porto was hot). Bed was comfortable. Modern bathroom with luxurious bathsheets. Breakfast buffet was definitely worth it with many options including an espresso machine. The woman who checked me in was very helpful and friendly. The rest of the staff was nice but a little aloof - not a big deal. It's not a good place for people with mobility issues because you have a flight of stairs before you get to reception and elevator level. And noone helps you with your luggage. Also, unless you hire luxury transport, you'll get dropped a half block away (Uber). The location is great. Get a paper map. Google and Apple maps are terrible. From here I walked everywhere. There's a wonderful authentic home cooking restaurant just across the cobblestone from the hotel. Restaurants and shopping all around.
The hotel is in a great location for exploring the city. The staff were attentive and friendly although we were questioned before heading into breakfast and several checks were made to ensure we’d booked and paid. It seemed a little unnecessary and no apology was made that we were made to feel like we were trying to sneak in! The hotel hadn’t seen the messages I had sent prior to arrival so check in took a little while. When I first entered the room, straight away I could see the curtain hanging from the rail, I reported it in the morning and an attempt was made to put it back up but it was still allowing a lot of light into the room. Otherwise the bedroom was very comfortable. The eco bin system needs labelling! And the shower could do with a good clean, it’s very dirty in the corners and around the door.
A classy hidden gem with a courtyard of grass. Well located.
Confortable hotel in the heart of Porto. The rooms are spacious and furnished with taste, the location is excellent in the city center. Great time there!
