Pros:

The place is beautiful, with a fantastic pool area, gorgeous gardens, and a unique hotel concept that makes the whole experience special.

Cons:

The main downside was the strong smell throughout the property, which gave the impression of an old, poorly ventilated building. There was no air conditioning in the room, making it difficult to sleep comfortably. The bathroom also had a persistent damp smell. The hotel should definitely improve its ventilation system. The breakfast could also be improved, with more variety and better overall quality. While the property itself is beautiful and has a unique concept, these issues affected the overall experience.

A beautiful property, just not a great room!
Pros:

Beautiful house and vast, tranquil gardens with incredible plants and butterflies. This is such a special location and felt very different to anywhere else we stayed or visited on the island. The decoration inside the house is beautiful and filled with lots of interesting pieces. The breakfast was incredible (ample meat-free options, lots of different breads, a gorgeous homemade cake) and the staff we met were all very friendly and helpful. The location is close to a nice local restaurant and supermarkets (both easily walkable) and it was lovely just to sit out in the gardens, but worth noting the temperature is much colder than by the coast which we hadn't expected!

Cons:

We'd chosen to book a more expensive room, as it was our final nights of the holiday. However the room we were given was one of the few that didn't have a garden view (it looked onto the gravel road and a big wall) and our 'patio' area with chairs etc was right beside a huge air conditioner vent, so it wasn't very appealing to sit out in! The room was quite dark and also smelled very damp inside, though they are clearly trying to deal with this because there were dehumidifiers, but it still wasn't great. Sadly we felt the room let down the rest of the experience.

Pleasant but a little disappointing
Pros:

Lovely grounds. Great swimming pool. Lovely Berta making breakfast and my kids double room was spacious and well appointed.

Cons:

My wife and my room was small and stuffy, however, with only a tiny plugin air circulation unit and the smallest fridge I have ever seen.

Disappointing overall, with breakfast hygiene concerns and poor soundproofing despite good location
Pros:

The location was good, and the pool area and surrounding grounds were beautiful and relaxing. A bed in the room was very comfortable.

Cons:

The biggest concern was food hygiene at breakfast: cheese, cold cuts and butter were left unrefrigerated at room temperature for almost three hours each morning, and some of the same items were served again on subsequent days. We saw the same piece of butter repeatedly, first with crumbs/dirt on it and later with what appeared to be mould, and we were also served orange juice that was sour, fizzy and even started fermenting. Dirty dishes were left on nearby tables until the end of breakfast service so you are eating surrounded by dirty plates.
Sound insulation was extremely poor, we could clearly hear every footstep from the floor above as well as other guests’ conversations, which made the stay quite uncomfortable.

A quiet escape from Funchal.
Pros:

It's beautiful and unique but in need of some TLC both to the rooms and the garden. If you're looking for a quiet place to be this would be it. Easy access to trailheads. Close proximity to a shopping center. Fun family style dining for breakfast - a sweet way to connect with the other guests.

Cons:

Just be aware there's not much to do in Camacha in the evenings. We didn't mind - Berta did prepare a dinner for the guests under the stars on our second night which was sweet. Just check prices with her before you order.

Pros:

Bertha, the cook, was super nice. We stayed two nights; on the first morning we had to wake up early to catch the sunrise at Pico de Arieiro, and she and her daughter prepared sandwiches and snacks for us that they left in the fridge the night prior. The second morning all the guests sat around a table for her homemade breakfast. Her peppermint cake is MINT! The vibes on the property were immaculate, super quiet and relaxing.

Cons:

Finding the property can be tricky. It's on the left side of an Italian restaurant, through a gated fence.

Pros:

I loved breakfast, and the garden was nice but there are buildings around so it's not very cosy. Pictures are not showing the other side on purpose.

Cons:

We got smaller room then expected, and also I think they mix pictures on their booking profile so we paid more for a smaller room, bigger rooms are put for lower price, when we asked about it they said that the bigger rooms are called studio, which does't exists on their profile at all.
