Pros:

Very close to motorway but still quiet.

Reasonably close to Duenas Town centre about 300 metres.

Room was reasonable, a little worn and basic but clean and tidy .

The bed was comfortable and the shower etc all worked.

It was only 8°C outside but the room was warm...underfloor heating worked very well.


We arrived late after 8.00pm and the reception was closed, but after speaking (with difficulty...no English spoken)to the lady running the restaurant and bar , she got the lady from reception to check us in...it was a very very informal check in. Basically this is the room, here's the key card....Good night....didn't see her again, no check out.

Food was available no menu though and very basic, again no English so with no menu difficult to order. Price was OK. 15 euros for bread, starter, main course and a postre all very basic Spanish food and a litre of a odd wine..a kind of deep rose, not quite red but not a rose either....just about drinkable...we were tired....

Bar very inexpensive 1.50 € a beer or glass of wine, 3.50€ for a huge brandy (probably a quadruple measure!!) and a double espresso (cafe doble)

Breakfast was as much good coffee as you want, a plate full of toasted rustic bread with butter and Spanish marmalade....no options no discussion..

Parking was free and available

Access to motorway in the daylight very easy....

Locals all very friendly....and helpful although nobody spoke English at all...

If you need a place only a couple of hours from Santander right on the motorway it's a strange little hostel but OK for an overnight stop.

Cons:

Difficult to find at night no signs off the motorway or even visible at near the hotel...address didn't exist on my cars satnav, although it is on Google maps as a restaurant...not a hostel

It is in a very strange location. Although very close to motorway on the route from Portugal to Santander.

No English spoken at all.

No menu in the restaurant, just a limited spoken description of what we could have in Spanish from the owner....with aid from the translator App we nearly got what we thought we ordered...no veg no salad just meat and friescand rice...a lot of it though!

There were sufficient towels, although no shampoo etc in bathroom, with a really silly little sink that wouldn't hold water....

A solid recommendation
Pros:

Comfortable, clean, and friendly staff. Also, fantastic coffee! A value for money stop on the way to the ferry or even to explore the local area. A solid recommendation for this family run hotel. I'm sure I will be back again.

Cons:

Nobody on reception when we arrived. We were informed by someone staying there you have to phone. We tried 3 numbers nobody answered. We then went into the bar and waited until a lady came out of the kitchen. This is not what you want after travelling

Kleines feines Zimmer zum Topp Preis
Pros:

Ruhiges kleines Zimmer mit schönen Bad und Stellplatz für das Gefährt.

Cons:

Das Frühstück war spartanisch, lag aber vielleicht auch an der Sprachbarriere.
Es gab kein Hotel Namensschild, deshalb etwas schlecht zu finden.

Handy location for stop over!
Pros:

This hotel is convenient for a stopover close to the highway and very affordable, the owner very friendly.

Cons:

The hotel has very thin walls. We could hear the neighbors coming home and watching TV all night, so I’d recommend bringing earplugs.
