I had a lovely stay , attentive staff, comfy room good location . Slightly out of town
Pros:

Loved location m, it’s a 20 minute walk into town, it’s on a main road, so there is some traffic noise in rooms at front, but it was certainly not a problem for me.
Bed was a super comfy Hypnos bed, and room had good thick curtains to keep the light out . Lovely en-suite shower room. The breakfast was cooked to order ( ordered night before) in a lovely little dining room

Parking onsite but had to pay for it
Charged for child even though it was already included in booking and booking.com advertised as free child stay
No wardrobe even though advertised as having wardrobe
Room too hot couldn't turn heating off

Pros:

The whole experience - really comfortable room, lovely breakfast.

pleasant but slightly overpriced.
Pros:

new hallgates location was perfect, it was clean and tidy.

Cons:

there is no mini fridge in the room which made it difficult to store milk etc. milk was provided but it was down the stairs. also the booking was made for two adults and one child, booking.com stated that the child stays free.. on arrival we where given the exact same room as we stayed in previously however on this occasion we where charged £30 for the sofa bed which was slightly confusing. also the sink was blocked in the bathroom. which made brushing your teeth difficult.

Lovely bespoke hotel near city centre
Pros:

Really lovely room, great staff, breakfast and short bus ride to city centre. Lovely added touch of birthday decorations for my partners bday!

Cons:

To get milk you need to request from the reception. This is fine but there's no mini fridge in the room so you have to use it shortly after you request it from reception

A fantastic stay in this friendly boutique hotel.
Pros:

The whole experience was fabulous. The room was spacious, the staff welcoming and friendly and the breakfast was outstanding.

Cons:

Nothing really. The location is a little way from York City Centre - but it is easy enough to get there on the bus or walking. Our room was at the front so adjacent to the busy main road - but we were were not that bothered by the noise.

A hidden gem. Dog friendly. 100% definitely stay again
Pros:

Nothing to fault. Staff very friendly warm and welcoming. Room was so comfortable and everything we needed. Breakfast was superb. This place is a hidden gem. Definitely stay here again.

Excellent value and service and will return on our next visit to York
Pros:

The staff were extremely welcoming and attentive. The room and communal areas were well appointed and carefully considered. Great value - York can be quite pricey however New Holgate was fairly priced and great value and service.

Cons:

Some domestic sounds did disturb in what was otherwise a quiet and peaceful night
