Great views. Noisy air conditioning.
Pros:

View and location are great. We stayed in a Privilege Room which is a good size and clean (except for smell from shower drain). We enjoyed breakfast. Lots of staff on hand.

Cons:

Smell from shower wasn’t pleasant. No maintenance available to sort it as it was ‘tricky’ on weekend. Noise from air conditioning was like constant running water which wasn’t great for a relaxing weekend.

Accommodation fine but being bumped at last minute left a very bad taste.
Pros:

We were very disappointed when we were contacted at 6.00pm just before we arrived to say we had been bumped into the Ibis next door. We had booked 7 days previously. Very very unhappy and the receptionist let us stay in the Mercure in a privilege room. Excuse was they had had some block bookings and were full. They obviously weren’t. Breakfast fine. Dinner, 2 of the 8 main dishes were unavailable on the 2nd night. Much better experience the previous stay.

Cons:

Being bumped at the last minute. Very disappointing.

Loved it, what a great addition to the town of Paignton - already planning to return
Pros:

We loved the nice, spacious quiet room with very comfortable beds and tasteful décor. Having a fridge, safe, and air-con was a real plus. The location was perfect, right in the center of Paignton, especially great for dog owners. Car parking was convenient, and the breakfast was excellent, with a wide range of food. Plus, the staff were lovely and friendly!

Cons:

Hallways are so brightly lit, the air conditioning wasn’t very efficient, so the room did get quite warm. In the bathroom, despite the large shower, the narrow screen and a gap below meant water spilled onto the floor near the toilet, and at one point nearly reached the bedroom. It’s a strange design that needs reconsideration. No cash accepted but the bar does ... strange! That said, it didn’t ruin our overall stay, and we’d happily return.

Excellent seaside location
Pros:

Such a gem for a weekend away - the sea view rooms are a full on panoramic sea view and SO worth it! It’s clean, well presented and staff were friendly. Breakfast was good choice and fresh food.

Cons:

Parking spaces are very tight but it is first come first served and we arrived late.

Lovely, modern, clean and comfortable hotel.
Pros:

Close to the seafront. Lovely room and large comfortable bed. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Restaurant was modern, clean and had a good choice of food.

Cons:

Breakfast could be improved, food was good but not as tasty as hoped and continental selection was small. But still good value for what we paid with the room rate.
