If you just need a bed to sleep in, this serves the function. If you want to relax and enjoy, this is not the place for you. We stayed in the basement which seemed like a fire hazard with no escape. The bathroom was so tiny it was barely functional.
Could not check in the hotel was locked up. Tried calling the number listed and no answer. Tried to gain access for 45 minutes, banged on door and window. No one at the reception desk. Now im out the cost of the roo. As i had to find another place to stay.
The property was absolutely filthy, vile smell coming from the bathroom which made us feel sick of the door was open, no toiletries or ability to find staff to ask for toiletries. There was dust caked on the fan. Not hoovered there was bits on the floor everywhere
We paid £55 for a night in London so can't really complain
It was abit run down needed some love
Weird smell in the bathroom
I would stay here again for price though
Well.., when you check in to a room and see tv on a wall (as per booking details, 22 inch LED TV with digital channels) you assume you could spend relaxing evening after a very difficult day with a glass of wine watching some comedy right? No! Wrong!!! There is a TV hanged on a wall only with a plug dangling down loose and no plug anywhere near ?! I am not making it up! I thought WHF?? What is the point just to hang a tv on a wall that can not be plugged on!? I go to reception and ask, girl (nice but clueless) seems that she has never been in Ivy House Hotel before, so together now we are in the room staring a tv on a wall with loose plug dangling down, she clearly never has been here before. She makes phone calls, it takes time and all I get is that supposedly it should be an extension somewhere in the hotel to get tv to reach the opposite wall plug (which by the way would make it a tripping hazard and I am sure would be against basic health and safety rules), anyway no sot knows where that extension is so I leave and book myself in to another hotel while complaining to Expedia regarding this booking, but that is a brand new horror story that I will continue as a review for Expedia… I knew I booked a very basic cheap room just for one night; but when you advertise tv in a room for f… s… make sure it’s usable. They could also have put bleach down the toilet for basic hygiene. P.S just got my refund from Expedia but that was a fight too.
Very good value. Our room was small but had everything we needed, including tea and coffee.
Absolutely tiny room in a basement, looking into a backyard with cigarette butts and brick wall. Marketed as a family ‘suite’, it was actually the size of a single bedroom. The shower was literally inside the loo - no shower curtain or tray. It was so incredibly noisy as the room backs on to Victoria train station. Worst night sleep of my life! No facilities like hairdryers and irons (we were going to a wedding so had to find an Argos to buy an iron.) We wouldn’t have minded had it not been for the fact that it cost us £242 for one night. Totally miss-sold. More like a hostel than a hotel. Only stay there if you get an absolute bargain price and don’t mind staying in something that feels more like a squat than a hotel.
