Pros:

This is a modern hotel in an historic house with a fantastic restaurant attached. Not sure if the two are owned by the same group but probably. The check in is all virtual, no hotel staff are on site, and it went smoothly however I did have to step outside to get a decent cellular signal in order to check in. Close to the railway station. Excellent breakfast in the restaurant. Highly recommended!

Pros:

Lovely clean room
No staff so check in involved emails and texts in the lead up to arriving. Tedious and unwelcome.
Neighbour couldn't remember his door code so made a lot of noise trying to get in his room for about an hour in the middle of the night. Would have been easily resolved if there was a reception team.

Pros:

This is not a hotel that should be charging £180 per night. We had issues with our room, despite asking to move this was not offered. Instead maintenance was asked to come out. They did not appear and we had to put up with the issue. No breakfast is offered, there are no other services and it being contactless there is no one to help when there are issues. The room was incredibly small (and hot) for the price. For two people it was too small to easily move around the room or bathroom.

This could be a value hotel if changed at a much lower rate. Instead they are charging like a 4 star hotel and offering a service worse than a terrible sea side bed and breakfast. Do avoid it.

Could be better at that price point.
Pros:

Its a contactless hotel meaming you get an entry code around an hour prior to arrival. We didn't get this and despite using contact details for the hotel we got no response. When we contacted hotels.com they managed to get us sorted and someone contacted us and apologised.

I admit we got a free suite upgrade, however when we went to leave our room the keypad lock wouldn't stop the door from just opening so in theory anyone could walk in. We then called the dedicated number and maintenance did come within 15mins.

The suite was spacious but a little worn around the edges, the carpet looked like it could do with a shampoo or replacement. The jetted bath was nice but chips in the bottom. Also no handsoap in the dispensers.

In hindsight for the price given its contactless and no breakfast included, it is perhaps overcharging and under delivering from an experience point of view, particularly if we had a standard room. I won't say the suite is worth paying much extra for. Location wise its ok and rhe restaurant downstairs does a lovely breakfast for additional cost.

We just tried it for something different, but won't return.

Great Hotel with great facilities and heaps of roo
Pros:

This Hotel is a 'smart hotel' where you get a code to open the Hotel & the room. The room was huge....2 TV's, a couch, big bed and 2 chairs & table beside the bed.
The bathroom was also huge. A spa bath with shower over the bath. 2 basins.
This was a great hotel.
The restaurant below (not associated with the Hotel as such, was also excellent.

Pros:

The stay was lovely and so cozy. Only things we have to mention about the stay was the plug in the bath was getting stuck we had to use a card to get it out, the toilet roll holder and shower knob loose also. But other than that it was such a lovely stay and we’d 100% be back and recommend to friends already. Fab!!!

Great Visit to Ayr
Pros:

My wife and I visited and stayed 2 nights the room was great, clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The access in and out of the hotel was easy and the coded entry made life easier than having to deal with room keys. We ate locally and the easy access to so many restaurants and bars was great.

A stylish, but very different kind of “hotel” !
Pros:

This is a very different type of “hotel”, with no staff present on the premises ! I knew this at the time of booking, but it still seems a bit odd as you walk past the empty reception desk and lobby area ! Everything is done remotely by text messages, a phone call and an electronic guide, which is provided after your booking is confirmed. A unique access code is sent to you to allow access to the main property and then in to your room. My room was clean, modern and extremely stylish. Quality fittings and furnishings have been used throughout. The bathroom was spotlessly clean, albeit on the small side. Tea and coffee facilities are provided in the room, along with a TV, hairdryer and a small air con unit. Plenty of pillow and cushion options are provided. My bed was fairly comfortable, but on the firm side. The hotel is close to the train station, and a short stroll from the seafront, so it is convenient for most things. Unfortunately, the adjoining restaurant was closed during my stay (Aug 16th/17th 2023), but unfortunately, this was not mentioned anywhere at the time of booking, or in any of the messages received from the remote hotel management team. Overall, it was a comfortable one night stay, in a different kind of accommodation, but it’s more of a plush rented room rather than a hotel, especially whilst the restaurant is closed for business. I was advised by the Donnini team that this will hopefully re-open again soon under new management.

Up in the Ayr
Pros:

Didn’t receive link as mentioned when booking to get door access code as not a manned reception. Called the number on main door and friendly staff member helped me gain access. I was an hour early so room wasn’t ready. I was also told the restaurant and bar were closed by the house keeping staff. It would have been good to know before booking as a solo female traveler I didn’t want to find somewhere else for dinner and breakfast. I was meeting a relative for a few hours so it also meant we had to go elsewhere to meet up.
Room was lovely, very comfortable, good quality and good amenities. Plenty of parking at rear. Strong WiFi and central location
