A wonderful luxurious stay.
Pros:

An amazing building and beautiful decor. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Cons:

We were disappointed with the £50 per person fee for 2 hours in the spa area. Paying guests should get a free pass for a swim or gym session for 1 hour a day and pay for any extra.

Not worth it
Pros:

Great friendly staff.

Cons:

Don’t promote yourselves as a spa hotel or a hotel with a pool if access to these facilities comes at an additional cost and is only available with a separate booking.

We specifically chose this hotel because we expected to be able to use the spa and pool facilities during our stay. However, when we arrived at the spa we were told they were fully booked and unavailable to hotel guests unless reserved in advance. ( had we been told in advance we would have reluctantly paid an additional £100 )

Disappointing , but the hotel acknowledged the issues and agreed to contact Booking.com for refund
Pros:

I am waiting for a refund for 2 rooms that has been agreed with the hotel and obviously it is a Booking .com payment

Cons:

no Wi-fi and no room access keys

Pros:

It had character unlike a lot of new build hotels

Cons:

I was surprised when told it was £50 to use the pool, that should be included for residents

Chinese New Year's Celebration
Pros:

The building is absolutely beautiful, the decor keeps very much in the theme. The bar/dining area is magnificent with a gorgeous skylight. The room is also decorated to a high level, the bed provides an excellent sleep, very comfortable. Location is perfect for exploring all that Liverpool has to offer.

Cons:

Could not increase the room temp, despite asking the staff, the control seemed to only adjust the radiator in the bathroom! Although the room was beautifully decorated it did feel a little compact. The shower, again, in an excellent bathroom, leaked onto the bathroom floor only prevented by the floor towel. Either the slope was not enough or the drain was partially blocked. Breakfast was unfortunately very poor. Chose the full breakfast, bacon was overcooked (cardboard like), my wife chose salmon & poached eggs, the eggs were solid with no runny yoke. Our initial coffees, flat white & espresso came barely warm. I requested replacements, the flat white arrived hot but instead of the espresso it was simply a plain black coffee!
So all in all, the breakfast was most definitely not 5*

Lovely staff, comfortable bed, gorgeous bar let down by subpar room sizes and disappointing spa.
Pros:

Lobby and bar was spectacular. Every staff member was lovely and very helpful.

Cons:

TV, Phone, Card machines and Internet wasn't working the entire time of my stay. Room size was disappointing for the price.

£50PP for the spa was very expensive what for was a very underwhelming spa experience compared to the competition.

Very Disappointing Stay
Pros:

The hotel was a great location and the staff were really lovely and helpful under difficult circumstances

Cons:

When we arrived we had requested early check in - this wasn't available. We had to change for a wedding so were a bit disappointed as had requested it about 3-4 times. We sat in the bar and waited for the room and ordered some food - it took ages to come and when it did come my order was wrong. When we went to the room the keys didn't work - it turned out that none of the keys in the hotel could be programmed as the machine was broken. Every time you wanted to go to your room someone from the front desk had to escort you. We went to breakfast in the morning and it was very busy as the wedding party were staying. There were lots if front of house staff but my breakfast didn't arrive after an hour. My husband's arrived cold, he sent it back and it came back cold again. The side room where all the cereals etc were had plates of croissant and pastries and they all looked dry and very unappetising. My husband complained about the breakfast because I got nothing - it was an all inclusive price but they said they would re-imburse for the food. When we checked out we had to remind them about the re-imbursement as they hadn't remembered - I don't know if we will see that - it was a shame because we had been looking forward to the night away and the staff were lovely but the management of the hotel was very poor as nothing seemed to go right. I don't think I would go back.
