Ariel doesn't get a signal for basic Freeview unless you put it in the sink and then it very poor
Inside of the kettle was full of limescale
Jackie was really good & extremely polite. Showed me to my room which was on the ground floor. The room was really nice with a large shower room. Nice comfortable as well. Can't fault this hotel at all. I parked over the road at the woolshop.
Checking in was easy and convenient for parking.
The room was good for my one night stay. The 2 members of staff i met, jackie who did check in and the lady on the bar were so nice and helpful. Excellent location, couple of minutes walk from piece hall.
I have no complaints about the accomodation itself,
I do think the cost was a little high for what i actually had though which was a small one person room with shared bathroom. I paid arounf £68.
Nice enough place to stay for what we wanted. Handy for the Gig we were going to as its was only a 5 minute walk to the venue. Jackie and Sharon were very nice and helpful and the place was busy.Only down side we had was that the bed was a bit to low and soft for us.Also it was in a aclove which made it a bit of a struggle to get into and out off.(we prefer a highish bed with a firm mattress)
Apart from that was decent enough for the one night stay we had.
Also note that the car park behind the hotel/pub was fairly small and only had spaces fpr about 8 cars tho there is a car park across the road which cost £9 per 24 hours.
If you are planning to go to a gig at the Piece Hall and planning to just stay one night it fits the bill.
Very basic room which was expected. Bed was comfortable. Very quiet area. Property very run down needs a refurbishment. Was ok for 1 night but wouldn’t stay again.
We booked The Old Post Office Hotel based on it’s nearness to both The Train station and The Piece Hall.. Less than 5 minutes to both. We were greeted by Jackie, who was lively.
Affordable option which is ideal for the Piece Hall. No bells and whistles but homely. Small and independant and good to support a local business. Not the ritz but quirky, clean and comfortable.
Great pub with rooms ideal for a quick stopover when seeing a gig in the Piece Hall
Manager was very nice and helpful but room was in poor condition and furniture. Bathroom was much better but never really found hit water in the shower sadly

Jackie has continuously brought the accommodation forward, see you again soon Phil
There was a very friendly and helpful welcome from Jackie, the manager. The room was tidy, clean with an extremely comfortable bed. You need to watch your head on the beams in that room but it has superb views and was both warm and remarkably quiet for a pub. Recommended
Comfortable bed and warm room. Basic but good.
Dirty rooms. Tv signal poor. Good sleep.
Booked a triple room, was told i can have a double, or pay more for tripple.
Toilet wobbles, not fixed to the wall properly.
Mattress cheap and hard.
Floor not mopped properly.
Bathroom not tiled and finished properly.
Cold.
A maze to find the rooms in dark unwelcoming corridors.
Just spend an extra 20 quid get a chain hotel.
The Old Post Office is easy to find from the bus station. A warm welcome from the manager and easy to follow instructions for getting in out of hours. Room is cosy and comfortable. The Old Post Office is just a 5-10 minute walk to the Minster. If you’re going to a show at the Minster, you can’t go wrong staying over at The Old Post Office.
The room had not been cleaned properly, we found contact lenses and pack on the floor and dust bunnies wafting when movement caused a breeze. The floor was also sticky in parts. While good for access to the Woolshops, cannot recommend a stay here.
Nice hotel very near to the Peace Hall
