Wedding overnight stay excellent service
Pros:

Attended a wedding here and stayed overnight. Service was excellent the room was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Staff were friendly and attentive we only had the continental breakfast but it was of good quality and there was ample and plentiful choice. Prices were reasonable and I would happily stay again.

Very dissatisfied with level of cleaning
Pros:

I'm not sure if room was cleaned at some point then not occupied for a while as there was a layer of dust everywhere. I don't go looking either. The 3 pictures of dust on fingers is from 3 different places. The window ledge. The tv top and the scurting boards. There was cobwebs in more than one place. The picture is splattered with white paint. Cpl tiles cracked in bathroom. Possible old leak repair at back of toilet. And ! Somebody's pyjamas in one of the drawer units ! Eeew. Im sorry I'm not taking them out the bag we put them in for the bin. Toilet roll ran out. Less than 1/4 left on roll. None spare. No one here to ask.
Disheartening as its our wedding anniversary wkend away

Pros:

The bathroom shower curtain absolutely disgusting the shower pipe black with grim n dirt, never been cleaned, towel rail fell off the wall, burnt iron marks on carpet, the bedding, single duvet with a double cover which was ripped, the whole place could do with a good clean, and a paint job, very disappointing that they dont do any kind of food, breakfast would have been nice.

Good pit stop
Pros:

As a pit stop it was good, would have preferred food at accommodation, but just up the road there’s a Marstons pub, tescos, McDonalds, check-in was straight forward, because of disability issues I had requested a ground floor room, only 2 disability parking spaces and after we had been out for food both had gone, 1 with no badge, a very nice young man opened the gate for me to park on the yard at back.
Would stay again very reasonable rates

Lovely stay and comfortable rooms.
Pros:

Lovely venue and very clean and tidy rooms. The self check in was smooth and easy to follow. The only thing I would have liked would be for the bar to be open to all not just for wedding/hire and the breakfast wasn’t on either which was a little let down but also just one of those things. Overall I would rate this a great place and very comfy rooms

Even had biscuits with the coffee
Pros:

The Poachers Country Hotel stayed middle of last year and had a horrendous time with dirty rooms, no hot water, disgusting bathroom, and swore id never return. Was not happy when my company booked me in again but what a difference 6 months has made!. No more paint peeling, clean fresh room, with tea/coffee station, bathroom was rust and limescale free and spotlessly clean. I will def be asking to stay here again. Only downside is no food available but recommend the Four Crossroads across the Road. 5 star ⭐

Fantastic stay for a beautiful wedding day.

The host, Vicky, was incredibly welcoming and attentive. It was beautifully decorated, providing a perfect backdrop for the wedding. Our room was cosy and clean. We didn't stay for breakfast but I highly recommend this hotel for a memorable stay.

Hotel stay
Pros:

I stayed in bridal suite for 3 nights while working night shifts. Checking in and out is easy and hassle free. I didn't bump into any staff during my stay. The bed was very comfortable and the room was nice. Apart from limescale in the bathroom, that was relatively clean. The carpet In the bedroom looked like needed carpet cleaning or a new carpet. Slept well during the day. Lovely room. Tv was tiny! Didn't get chance to watch much of it size of a computer monitor. Paid £70 per night. Not a bad price would've been nice if breakfast was included.

Gorgeous country house hotel
Pros:

Earlier this month i stayed at the beautiful venue for the evening of my Christmas works party which was also held at this venue.
I live away so was ideal being able to stay at the same venue hosting the party.
On arrival I was greeted by what I would describe as a quirky but beautiful building with easy access to the car park.
The bedroom was well equipped and clean but could use a little updating however this didn’t bring down my stay. Still a very cosy room. As for the rest of the hotel especially the bar area it was a gorgeous old style bar with stacks of character and charm. The bar was fully stocked with a range of drinks suiting every need. Food was delicious and the staff were equally pleasant. Overall I would definitely return to this place. I imagine it’s a beautiful wedding venue.

No idea how there are so many positive reviews. Wouldn’t dare go again.
Pros:

I honestly can’t understand how there are so many 5* reviews of this place, I wouldn’t be going near here again. To start I had to wait half an hour for a staff member to come to the hotel to give me access to my room as the lockbox that should have had my key in it was broken. The rooms are poorly appointed, with furniture that has seen much better days. The bathroom that I had is clearly meant for someone a lot shorter, as the toilet is placed under the slope of the roof so you’ve got to be wary. When I entered my room for the first time I found a pair of women’s underwear on the floor in plain sight, which I had to ask to have removed. Certainly made me wonder what level the room had been cleaned too. As you can see from the photo I also then found a slug crawling up the wall by the window. All in all I couldn’t possibly recommend this place at all. Given the experience it’s also not exactly cheap for what you’re getting. Would avoid for sure!

Not the most hospitable establishment
Pros:

We were very fortunate to be invited to a wedding at this venue and even though we only lived 6 miles away decided to stop over in the venue hotel over night. We arrived at 1pm for the 2pm wedding and asked to check into our room to be told we could not check in until 3pm on asking if someone was still in our room we were told No. After some debate they relented and let us into our room. The room was ok, the TV did not work we did report this but no one fixed it. Wedding was lovely. The drinks at the bar are ridiculous expensive. The cooked breakfast in the morning I can honestly say is the worst hotel breakfast I have ever had. All the food is freshly cooked including the plastic sausage! The cooked food is then transferred to cold serving dishes and left on a none heated table for a serve yourself breakfast which you place on to cold plates. The food apart from the plastic sausage was perfectly fine but cold all there effort to cook it was wasted the food was cold and not appealing
Such a shame as there was a large family gathering

Satisfactory
Pros:

I only stayed one night on my travel north from Suffolk. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The shower and washing facilities in the room were excellent with plenty of fresh towels made available.
I didn't book any breakfast due to an early morning start.
Private car park was good with plenty of room.
I had minimal interaction with staff.

Disappointing for the price spent
Pros:

Attended my great niece wedding here and didn't have a great experience at all and left with diarrhoea from the buffet that tasted disgusting. The breakfast that changed price after booking to double the price was cold and ALL burnt so not worth the extra money at all the cups was tiny and only contained 3-4 mouthfuls of liquid, one staff member seemed very rude and was over heard speaking very rudely to the brides father after complaining about the food after all the money that was paid on it, definitely not worth the money my niece paid for, full of bugs and spiders that had been left and due to the fields which is understandly but still get rid of them atleast instead of leaving them for the guest to sleep and eat with, my niece couldn't use the bath as orange water came out the taps with black bits in that contained 2 spiders certainly not worth the thousands spent very disappointed
