Argo Hotel - Kings Cross

We arrived at the hotel at approximately 4 a.m., exhausted from our journey. We collected our keys, went to our room and immediately fell asleep.

The following morning, we noticed that our room was unusually small. After checking our Booking.com reservation and comparing the photographs and room details, we discovered that we had been given a single room despite having booked and paid for a double room.

We approached reception politely, hoping that the mistake could be corrected and that we could at least be moved to the room we had actually paid for during the remaining nights of our stay.

Unfortunately, the staff member's reaction was shocking. Instead of apologising or trying to help, he immediately became defensive and sarcastically questioned why we hadn't complained upon arrival. When we explained that it had been 4 a.m. and we were exhausted, he became increasingly irritated.

He then told us that if we didn't like it, we could cancel our reservation and leave. He repeatedly told us to leave, claiming there was nothing he could do.

What made this even more unacceptable was that our booking was non-refundable. Leaving would have meant losing the money we had already paid, and finding another hotel at such short notice was practically impossible, as the available accommodation was already booked.

We therefore had no realistic alternative but to stay. We simply stopped the conversation because the staff member was unwilling to listen or discuss any solution.

We weren't asking for special treatment. We simply wanted the room we had paid for, or at least an attempt to correct the mistake.

Being given the wrong room is disappointing. Being treated with sarcasm, hostility and complete disrespect when politely raising the issue is far worse.

Die schmale Treppe bis ganz nach oben mit Gepäck muss man glücklicherweise nur einmal gehen. Aber auch jeden Tag ein gutes Training so ganz ohne Fahrstuhl. Das Zimmer ist mit dem Doppelbett und dem kleinen Beistelltisch völlig ausgelastet, was es unmöglich macht, auch nur den kleinsten Schrank unterzubringen. Im Doppelbett nur eine Decke war (obwohl sie breit ist) für uns ungewöhnlich und hat Deckenkrieg ausgelöst.

Ayant une chambre au rdc, j'ai entendu cette porte faire du bruit pendant les 4 nuits car les clients rentrent tard le weekend ou se lèvent tôt pour repartir. Cette porte mériterait d'être changée.

The room was tiny but had the facilities needed. The shower in particular was very small, I could hardly move in it.

There was a stain on the bed linen at the end of the bed. The shower room had a very small hand basin and no shelves for toiletries.

La pieza era increíblemente pequeña, más de lo que las fotos mostraban, no lo esperabamos. Las escaleras son muy estrechas, al igual que los pasillos, que tienen alfombras y desniveles notables, lo que hacen difícil la circulación con maletas. La cama era muy pequeña y las almohadas muy duras. El barrio es algo sucio y oscuro, no es agradable para recorrerlo de noche.

It was far more expensive than it proved to bee in reality. The room was like a little box, near the outdoor and I could hear people coming and going all the night. I only got a small tower, nothing to have when to take a shower. The furniture was very simple and there was no teabags only coffee.

Some of the decor in the stairs area needs updating and the room was quite small (although was a single so to be expected I guess)
