Amended on 5 March. Yes, the stay was good, but I won't stay here again because of the £100 car parking fine (no reason for the fine given and I had paid £10 for parking at the time of my stay). It's not value for money if you pay £86 for the room and £100 for one night's car parking!
I have been very pleasantly surprised by the Moxy, my first time staying with this brand. The place was clean, the beds comfortable. The staff were exceptional and just as you always hope when staying at a hotel: there was someone there 24 hours, always friendly, professional and helpful. My 85 year old mother similarly enjoyed her visit, even though the hotel isn't targeted at her age group! The breakfast was very fresh and good too - this would have been a 10/10 but for the accessibility of getting from the car park to the hotel, no ramps or slopes, and a dangerous ledge when navigating to the entrance. But once inside all good!
I'm amending this as of 5 March 26. The PARKING situation is not good. Visitors to the Moxy coming by car PLEASE be warned!
The hotel has a car park next to it - which, as mentioned below, has accessibility issues. The car park is operated by ParkingEye, The Moxy is their client. A payment of £10 is required a few minutes after arrival (either 10 or 15mins). Before arriving, I checked with the hotel about parking and was told what to do. I parked close to the hotel in the car park, went to reception, paid my £10, and entered my car registration - all this in 9 minutes (the hotel has a record). Left the next morning. A week later get a £100 parking fine! Spoke to the hotel who apologised and requested ParkingEye to remove the charge. In addition I submitted an appeal with my receipt of payment. Yesterday I received another letter from ParkingEye to say they were 'unable' to cancel the charge but 'without prejudice' lowered the amount to a £20 fine. So for one night's stay I would have to pay £30 parking and I STILL don't know why I had the charge.
The stay at the hotel was fine, but I won't be staying here again, as I do not want to spend so much time after the visit having to fight parking tickets! Luckily I got the fine before booking my next stay, Premier Inn may be soulless, but they're honest about where I can park!
Accessibility - getting heavy bags up and down stairs from the car park to the hotel, slope needed, and the strange camber/ ledge to get to the door. Once inside the hotel it was absolutely no trouble at all.
I couldn’t believe the selection & quality of the food in such a small area!
You had everything that I needed to fill me up for the whole day let alone the morning.
