The staff were very friendly and accommodating
It was not as advertised. Previous owners have sold up and it is no longer a family run hotel. All staff were general workers. It was down at heel, linen and bedding was poor quality . Breakfast was very low quality . There was only bar food available again poor quality. Generally not what I expected for the money.

Although we had paid for breakfast- none was available- a only very poor continental was ( cereal toast and juice) . No refund offered.

The location, team of staff and the food - all excellent.
The team are very accommodating. Bith the breakfast and evening meals were really good. One of the chefs had a real eye for presentation - she was fab. Loved how she presented a bowl of porridge - with berries on the side and a separate jug of maple syrup.
Would have liked the bins emptying at the weekend and a fridge would have been useful.
It stated if you wished to have towels changed to leave them in the shower. We tried this with one towel but it didnt get changed - not a massive issue however
Location and friendliness

Meals at the hotel restaurant were good when available, but when the chef was a no-show, the cold food for breakfast was not good, and the only other option for dinner was the Chinese take out up the road.
While it is convenient to have a restaurant in house, especially as there aren't other options in Scalloway, the chef lacks transportation and at times doesn't show up. That happened twice during our six days. We were directed to get take out Chinese from up the road.
The bar is available to all locals as well as hotel guests and at times was extremely busy and very loud.

Just a lovely traditional hotel with restaurant and bar, the friendliest staff. Room had everything I'd need for a stay and location one of the best I stayed on Shetland with a nice surrounding small town to wander around in the evening.
It felt as if the staff were a man down, but that didn't stop the ones who were there from working doubly hard to make dure it didn't affect the experience.
The rooms were bright and comfortable. Very clean bathroom in the room. Seafront location is lovely. Bar was comfy and relaxed and there were plenty options to sit outside.
My room on second floor was adjacent to what seemed like the staff smoking area behind the bar/kitchen which was a bit noisy and had wafting smoke come I through my bathroom window which wasn’t so great. Staff could have been more friendly and the breakfast options for cooked breakfast wasn’t available one morning.
