On behalf of myself Jonathan Clifton my Mum Lesley Clifton & my Uncle Graham Wood we would like to thank Robyn very much for all of her help friendliness & kindness during our stay at the lovely Scalloway Hotel in Scalloway Shetland which made us feel very welcome.
We all enjoyed a lovely holiday & it was a great memory to my Nana & Grandad Terry & Irene Wood who lived in Scalloway the Shetland Isles with my Uncle Graham in a caravan for three years at the Point in the 1960s & my Nana brought my Mum over to Scalloway the Shetland Isles for a holiday in 1978 & Robyn gave us a book called Our Street to look through & we found some of my Grandparents friends they had made all these years ago in it which was great as we met up with my Grandparents friends & the lovely couple Sandra & Iain Gilfillan who now live in Anna & Billy Watts house r related to Robyn which is lovely we met up with Sandra & Iain at the Community Center with a nice lady called Sonya which was very nice & we visited Doreen & her son David Halcrow at their home in Scalloway which was very nice too they were all lovely people so Mum bought some copies of the book for us to bring back home & Robyn also suggested we to spoke to an elderly gentleman called Davie who Robyn had said Davie had excellent knowledge of the Shetland Isles & it’s people.
We enjoyed watching some of the football games in the bar which Robyn managed to put on for us was very kind at the Scalloway Hotel Scalloway Shetland & we sat beside a nice chap called Mark who was there too & was very friendly.
We enjoyed going to see DI Jimmy Perez house in Lerwick out of the series Shetland on the tv which is a great series & we enjoy watching.
Great location, very nice hotel and Robyn was exceptionally friendly and helpful.
We booked this hotel for the Up Helly Aa festival but were forced to cancel after major disruptions to the Shetland ferry service. In the days leading up to our stay, we repeatedly tried to contact the hotel and even involved the Booking.com team — none of us received a single response.
We fully accept that our booking was non‑refundable and weren’t asking for a full refund. A partial refund, however, would have been a fair and ethical gesture given the circumstances. Instead, the hotel chose not to acknowledge any of our messages or emails. That silence speaks volumes about how they view their guests.
Travellers should be cautious when booking here, especially given how common travel disruptions are in the Shetlands. A hotel that refuses to communicate when plans go wrong is not one you can rely on.
Fantastic place to stay in Scalloway.
Lovely, friendly and helpful staff.
Great cooked breakfasts and really nice dinner menu.
Everything in the room worked fine. There was a good choice for breakfast and evening meals
Location - proximity to the town and other places
Very poor sound insulation - loud disco below my room until 11pm on one night. Conscious of the shower being turned on in the room above and next door
Very comfortable room with spacious en-suite bathroom. Hosting team were very polite and helpful. Drinks in the bar were excellent value for money, probably the cheapest pints in Shetland. The cooked breakfast was amazing. Great location in Scalloway, near the shops and museum and plenty of parking nearby.
The only fault I had was that my room was above the kitchen and they did play their music loud, but as someone who worked in a kitchen in my teenage years I can understand it and it’s not like it was an all night rave, it was quiet from 10pm. Also couldn’t seem to turn the shower off without turning off the switch in the bedroom, had to get fully dry before I could switch it off.
Centrally located, with great parking nearby. Hotel was clean and comfortable with good food and great staff. Nicky was amazing.
Paid extra for a sea view, well worth it fabulous view. The breakfast was outstanding, cooked perfectly, easily one of the best I have ever had and I’m platinum life Marriott member. Staff excellent and ever so friendly. My wife and I and our two wee lhasso’s who were made equal welcome will definitely return to visit Shetland and there’s only one place I would stay.
Absolutely nothing, it’s not Lerwick but it’s only 10 minutes away and a gorgeous wee town
Nettes Hotel, netter Ort.
An extended stay at Scalloway Hotel due to adverse weather and ferry cancellations. Staff were very helpful in securing the additional 3 nights in dog friendly room. Room was clean and comfortable. Great bed and plenty of wardrobe space. We ate in the hotel 3 nights, twice in the bar and once in the restaurant. Whilst the food was great in the bar, we did have a slight complaint on portion size when in the Restaurant..., staff member quickly sorted for us. Overall happy to stay and will go back. Staff make the stay, very warm, welcoming and friendly.
The beds were comfortable the room warm with good facilities.
The bar food was delicious and the breakfast hearty.
Mould in the shower stall
We were weathered in unexpectantly and staff very kind and helpful in making sure we had rooms.
Loves our stay, staff were friendly and helpful.
Bed/room comfortable, bathroom clean.
Dining was excellent, good breakfast and dinners.
Would highly recommend and stay there again
Thankyou.
We've been customers in the Bar only before, during Shetland Wool Week and were delighted to be staying there this year. It is a friendly, efficiently run hotel with good food and comfortable rooms.
Too short a stay despite an extra night due to stormy weather!
