Oddfellows Hotel Bar & Restaurant

I’ve marked this down as the fire alarm was going off for well over an hour, everyone was out in the corridor as no-one could get hold of the owner. We were tired after being out for the evening and to come back to this was a nightmare!!! No apology nothing!! The chef was inflexible, the menu was incorrect.

Friendly staff, great food

Had been looking forward to the free breakfast as advertised, but told this was not included in the standard rate room. Staff suggested this is a common source of confusion for other guests too.

Otherwise ideal location for wedding at Camblesforth Hall. Good amount of parking and was pleasantly surprised by the interior of the bar as we walked in. Staff were friendly and showed us to the room which was nice enough, although the door needed a good barge to get in.

I booked a room 4 months in advance at a cheap rate with a hotels.com platinum membership discount and used my onekey credit.
On arrival, the owner made me "top up" the rate to 160% of the cost due to double occupancy instead of single (a genuine booking error), making my small, windowless room much less of a bargain.

I have no issue paying a surcharge for double occupancy, but am upset that my onekey cash was disregarded and mainly that the owner was so deeply unpleasant about the situation.

Watch out for the menu too - the one on offer doesn't match the website, there are no veggie options and the response on questioning was "that's the menu".

Worrying start when we arrived and the premises were closed. We didn’t arrive until 2.30 pm but no one arrived until 2.54 pm. The breakfast was very good, on both days. Very well presented.

Whilst the rooms have been recsently renovated to very high standard. The service was terrible. There were four of us staying from our company, the first 2 arrived and we're told that there was no food available this week because the owner was away. When I arrived a little later this was not explained to me by the staff nor was the situation with breakfast. Other than being walked to my room there was no other interaction from the staff.

The breakfast which was not dropped to my room but rather left with a colleague consisted of a packet of crisps and plain white bread premade sandwich a bottle of water and I think another couple of items. Presented to us in a paper bag. To quote my colleague " it looks like a child's party take home bag"

All of this is pretty disappointing if this was planned by the owner to be away this week and no food available we only booked last week and should have been made aware of this.

When I arrived the bar was completely empty and had zero atmosphere other than the 3 staff being there, having gone out for dinner we returned just after 9 pm to find that the bar was completely shut up curtains drawn.

Couldn't and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, such a shame given the money spent on the rooms

Good room good food good service

We had a comfortable 2 nights stay. Room was clean and the bed was perfect for a good night's sleep. Only minor concern was the noisy extractor fan in the bathroom. Food in the restaurant was great.

Great place to stay in Carlton I have been a regular here now for over a year and always get a great welcome. Breakfast is to die for.

Nice small pub - good size room for 2 - modern facilities- clean & comfortable

First class accommodation except no shelf in the bathroom/wet room and the duvet felt more like a mattress (solid and heavy)

Owner operated. Very friendly. Great food. Made us a super packed lunch in leiu of breakfast. Great value for money. Would highly recommend.

Ignored by staff when checking in. Took 15 minutes whilst they dried glasses and tried to get a beer pump to pull without fobbing.
Awful service

Comfortable bed and pillows, clean bathroom with great shower. Nice tea and coffee tray. The best part was the delicious breakfast, cooked to order.
