Breakfast in our room was excellent & right on time
Can't think of anything
The staff is always extremely helpful, genuinely nice and friendly. It’s clean and I’ve had all I needed. Fireplace, bar and surroundings give you that cosy feeling
With my previous stays I’ve thought swimming pool and jacuzzi had a bit higher temperature. Few bits and bobs need repairs and updates also I have found the talbooth restaurant staff a bit stuck up but it might be just my particular feel
The location is lovely, the staff were friendly and aesthetically the building is pleasant to look at.
We stayed in a small room named Kipling which was adjacent to the front door, behind the reception desk come drinks bar and across the hall from an open plan sitting room. It therefore felt like we'd been poked in the boot room or an old office as we could hear people coming and going, checking in at reception and chatting quite clearly. There was no privacy for us so it's a good job we weren't hoping for a 'romantic' stay as we found ourselves having to whisper with just one wall between us and the reception desk.
The only option for breakfast is a continental in your room but if you wish to have a buffet or hot breakfast, you have to drive down the road to Maison House's sister hotel, Milsom's. Having previously stayed at Maison House in 2009, I remember a nice dining room next to the sitting room where you could have a hot breakfast however, this has now been turned into a room for yoga. Quite an odd location for an exercise space I think.
Cleanliness could have been improved a little with bits on the floor in our room plus the bathroom smelt of urine!
Finally, the heating wasn't on in the room when we arrived so being a cold March day, it was freezing. The staff did manage to get the radiator going however, the room then turned into a boiler room during the night which was unpleasant and led to a really bad night's sleep.
Breakfast was very good
Supper Saturday & Lunch Sunday, both excellent
Beautiful grounds, all staff so helpful and attentive to everything, nothing is too much! Beautiful spa, rooms are amazing! Highly recommend, we will be back!
Nothing
Lovely property, very clean, beautiful rooms and kind staff. I had the courtesy car to Millsoms for dinner and it worked well.
The bed was very uncomfortable, the mattress was old and had deep dents each side where people had slept (Shelley room). I woke in the night with back ache. It could do with replacing.
Beautiful location, fantastic service (the reception even arranged a car to take us to dinner free of charge), lovely pool area, comfortable and quirky room.
Nothing could have been better!
Friendliness of staff.
Lovely room on the ground floor. My husband has some mobility issues so this was very welcome.
A birthday card for my husband from the staff and an extra birthday dessert in the restaurant was a nice touch. The staff were very helpful finding plasters for my husband after his fall.
Lighting in the car park, especially near the charging points. My 80year old husband had a nasty fall while connecting our car to the charger. In the total darkness he tripped over the slightly raised wooden sleeper separating the grass from the hard surface. His elbow was bleeding heavily and both arms are still bruised and swollen. It was not a good start to our visit!
