Great for cricket
Pros:

10 minute walk from Cricket :) few mins tuk tuk to Uncle's bar and good sushi & live jazz and plenty TOP SL FOOD. All safe and friendly of course.

Cons:

Not much else going on around, but short tuk tuk away from fun. make sure you agree tuktuk price before you ride.

Gutes Hotel in ungünstiger Lage
Pros:

Das Orion City Hotel liegt in einer Art Gewerbegebiet außerhalb des eigentlichen Stadtzentrums am Zusammentreffen zweier Hauptstraße. Das Hotel belegt die beiden oberen Etagen eines Bürogebäudes. Ich hatte ein Zimmer mit Stadtblick im 20 Stock. Der Blick ist wirklich phantastisch, leider ist das Zimmer dadurch einer Hauptstraße zugewandt und durch die Einmündung einer anderen Hauptstraße genau auf Höhe des Hotels ist es unmöglich, dem Dauerhupen zu entgehen. Ruhig ist es meist zwischen 22:00 und 7:00 Uhr. Die rückwertigen Zimmer dürften ruhiger sein. Das Zimmer ist nicht ganz so nobel, wie es die Bilder erwarten lassen, dennoch bietet es in Bezug auf Ausstattung und Größe des Zimmers einen hohen Standard zu einen verhältnismäßig günstigen Preis. Insbesondere die bequemen Betten sind erwähnenswert. Durch die Lage im Gewerbegebiet ist die Restaurantauswahl gering, es gibt jedoch im Erdgeschoß eine Art Bistro (am Wochenende geschlossen), ein Pizzaketten-Restaurant sowie eine Lokal einer örtlichen Kaffeekette gleich nebenan. Außerdem gibt es einige wenige sehr einfache fußläufig erreichbare Lokale. Aufgrund der Lage an den Hauptstraßen dauerte es manchmal etwas länger ein Tucktuck (direkt oder per PickMe-App) zu bekommen. Die Fahrzeiten zu dem Sehenswürdigkeiten bzw. zurück zum Hotel sind nicht unangenehm lang. Im Erdgeschoß gibt eine kleine Filiale einer örtliche Supermarktkette (auch am Wochenende geöffnet).

Cons:

Wie oben beschrieben: Die Lage, wobei ich diese als Tourist bewerte. Für jemanden, dessen Ziel in der Nähe liegt, mag die Lage ideal sein. Es ist möglich, gegen Gebühr früher einzuchecken, ich halte den Preis hierfür jedoch für zu hoch. Bei der Bezahlung mit Kreditkarte wird am Zahlgerät zum Schluss eine Auswahl angezeigt: Zahlung in Dollar oder Euro (bekanntermaßen zu einem schlechten Umrechnungskurs). Die Auswahl wurde ohne mich zu Fragen vom Personal getroffen, was meinen Unmut hervorrief. Ich wurde mit der Aussage abgespeist: „Wieso? Sie zahlen doch sowieso in US-Dollar“. Bei einem Hotel dieser Kategorien erwarte ich vom Personal an der Rezeption etwas mehr Kundenfreundlichkeit.

Excellent stay
Pros:

Staff / management were excellent at check in. Hotel is located at the top of the Orion building with great views from room and also the hotel bar. Rooms is of a high quality with all the amenities provided. Close to Cricket stadium and excellent pizza place nearby.

Cons:

Restaurant lacks ambience.

We had a great one-night stay in Colombo! It’s the perfect place to stop for a short visit.

The sunrise view in the morning was absolutely breathtaking—definitely a highlight of our stay.

The place had everything we needed, and overall it was a really comfortable and enjoyable experience.
