Norton Motel

Extremely noisy because of very poor sound insulation between units. People casually walking around their unit above was a big irritant. Smart tv failed to work well and the support phone did not connect. Cockroach in the bathroom was very unwelcome.

Check in is at another property a short drive away, but very friendly & efficient

We were on the ground floor, we could hear the footsteps from the first floor above.
Even though check out time was 10am, the cleaners knocked on the door at 9.20am asking if we were leaving yet. They were polite and we were on our way out anyway.

Na lange reis moesten we voor check-in eerst naar een ander motel, waar de receptie was. We hadden toch wel wat last van kakkerlakken in de (veelal) lege keukenkastjes. Verder ligt het motel aan een drukke weg en dat hoor je s’nachts wel goed.. raampje dicht en airco aan is het ook niet helemaal; airco maakt een raar disco-achtig geluid.. tenslotte werkt ook de zonwering matig. Alles bij elkaar valt het dan toch wat tegen.

I didn’t feel overly safe, the door wasn’t very secure feeling - it didn’t shut securely and wobbled a decent amount when locked and shut. The failures were obviously cleaned, but you could see things that needed maintenance or deeper cleaning. Such as lots of marks on the paint, and the shower needing deeper cleaning. There was new towels delivered on the second day, but nothing else was done. The towels were also very very old and thin. The noise from the road was very loud, and noise from within the hallway etc was loud. Bed was okay.

Having a room downstairs hear all people upstairs walking around especially in the morning

check-in process was okay however i was not notified beforehand that i would need to pay $100 bond. i also would've appreciated better and more specific directions to where exactly my room was. i had to call reception after just leaving there to ask how to find my room. i was not aware there was an upstairs nor did i know how to get up there.

not complaining but the water will randomly have short outbursts and run through the kitchen sink tap and shower head.

on the second to last night the upstairs door to the hallway somehow was closed when i came back from dinner. you also need your keycard to unlock it and unfortunately for whatever reason the scanner on the door wasn't working therefore i was locked out. i tried calling the reception multiple times but went straight to voicemail. my parents were with me so they searched up the number too and called. it got to the point where i had to knock on the door, peoples walls and yell out to other residents staying there to try and get them to open the door for me from inside. no one answered or helped and we sat out there for about a half hour until we got hold of reception because they finally looked at the security cameras and saw we were trying to get in, and they got some guy with a physical key to unlock the door.

Prevent confusion on price - booked in New Zealand but quoted Australian dollars which led to a confrontation with the letting/booking staff.

Should note on the website where to collect keys and not an alternate email which we missed causing inconvenience trying to locate where the motel was to collect keys from.
