Hotel Ermitage Kandersteg

Breakfast was nice. Location excellent next to the gondola. Playground outside.

The location of this hotel is superior if you are there to see the lake. rooms are great views spectacular breakfast is great. heavily recommend

Hotel is located in a very convenient place, right by the gondola for Oeschinensee Lake & the hotel allows you to park for free on the day of arrival or departure so you don't also need to pay for parking for the Gondola. The view is amazing from the grounds of the hotel overlooking the mountain.

Check-in was quick, but they didn't ask if we had a car & it was only when I enquired that I realised we should have been given something to put in our car, otherwise we could have been given a ticket.

There's extra charges for using the hot tub or sauna featured on the photos.

The breakfast buffet was enjoyable and included in our room price, there was choices for all family members.

On arrival, we were told we had booked a "budget room" whereas we had thought we had booked a comfort room. The room was in the basement with no view of the mountain & there was scaffolding right outside our room which wasn't particularly safe for small children.

When we arrived, we realised the TV was damaged, we informed the management & they seemed annoyed but did not offer any compensation etc. the radiator was leaking in the hallway & the floor was raising up near the bathroom/toilet. It was however spacious inside and would have slept 6 people and a baby if required with a double bed and two sets of bunk beds. It was also clean.

When staying at the accommodation they offer a guest card which gives you discount to the gondola and public transport, but we had already bought our gondola tickets

Perfecte ligging als je vroeg de kabelbaan naar Oechinensee wilt nemen. Gratis parking bij het hotel = gemakkelijk. Alleen deze 2 factoren bepalen wel een hogere prijsklasse, maar het voordeel woog erg op.
Wij hadden familiesuite (2volw en 2 kind), die aparte ruimtes heeft (kamer met 2 stapelbedden; kamer 2pers bed, apart salonnetje, grote gang en bdk). Goed geslapen in goede bedden. Avondeten was heel lekker in gezellig kader. Ontbijt was uitgebreid en in buffetvorm. Een half uurtje hottub naast het bos en met mooi zicht op de bergen van Kandersteg was inbegrepen en zalig.

I respectfully disagree with your decision. I purchased insurance specifically to protect my stay, and I would like to understand how I can use it to obtain a refund, as I paid extra for this coverage.

Additionally, no one from the property reached out to me, despite having both my phone number and email address. Someone from the front desk or management should have contacted me before leaving for the day to provide the after-hours check-in process.

Please let me know the steps to file a claim through the insurance I purchased. I genuinely need your assistance, as this is the second or third time I’ve faced issues without any proper resolution or compensation.

If this cannot be resolved, I will have no choice but to escalate this to higher management, share my experience in a public review, and reconsider using Hotels.com for future bookings.

Such a cute little property. We stayed for one night as a travelling group of three females. We stayed in a room made up for three and it was so cosy and well presented. Staff were really friendly and super happy to have us there. Would recommend particularly for the cable car to Oeschien which is literally across the road! Excellent, thankyou!

Perfekt beliggenhed lige ved gondolen og starten af vandreruten til Oeschinensee. Meget praktisk hvis man vil ud tidligt. Rene og pæne værelser, sødt personale og hyggelig stemning. Vi havde en skøn overnatning og kommer gerne igen.

The hotel was under renovation. They gave us a room right next to the site. They drilled walls in the morning while we were still there. We couldn’t use balcony due to all the stuff for construction. No facility - no fridge, no kettle, no curtain! I complained but no change whatsoever. Staff were all pretty nice but the decision to rent the room while still construction doesn’t make any sense.

We checked in lae night. Front desk service person did not informed us that wifi was not working. We asked lady to give us another wifi pwd she denied the request. For 2 nights wifif did not work at all. Everytime they keep saying it will work tomorrow and they are fixing. After 2 nights we decided to checkout and stay somewhere else for 1 night and property managet agreed to refund us that 1 night and some compensation for inconvience caused by no wifi service, contruction noise in hotel, safety issues in playground. My kid was about to fall down from broken steps of playground. Now, hotels.com telling us that hotel is not agreeing to give us any refund and compensation at all and offereing $20 one key cash which feels like insulting. We paid $1074 for 3 nights. Hotel is in construction and they are not making any effort to make your stay comfortable so stay away from this hotel.

Very Roomy but bathroom didn’t have any locks

Good location next to the cable car. It is unfortunate that the building was surrounded by scaffoldings for major improvements / repairs (something we did not know before hand). We extended our stay by one night. We were offered to stay in the train carriage which was cosy and nice. However the water available thru a foot pump was not working. We had to bring water bottles. Secondly we had to insist to be able to take a shower when we wanted because of potential sauna occupation with other clients. Pricing not in line with the service.
