It was clean, convenient and a good value for the money. The staff was super friendly and really accommodating. The bar/workspace downstairs had an occasional plug for a computer which was very ideal since our children went to sleep and then we came down to work. The beds were super comfortable and I slept like a rock. Small note: the bathroom is modern and nice, but open to the bedroom so perhaps not the best when you have a small child sleeping in a crib in the room.
This is not to blame the staff at all, but there seems to perhaps be inefficiencies in the card system for the rooms. Even though the staff very nicely put our rooms next to each other, we were a large party mixed among three rooms, and needed to bounce quickly between each room to care for the various children. The room key cards came without a sleeve for room numbers - just a little, ripped, corner piece of scrap paper with the room number hand written on it, that floated away in 2 min in our chaos. We could not efficiently know which key was which and had to find tape to identify the different keys. In addition, it was unclear how to access the Wifi (you had to make a Rewards account) and there was no information about it (as far as we could tell) in the rooms. There may also have been a slight lack of training, which is again not to criticize the staff but rather the onboarding process of the hotel, but I asked for a glass of Chasselas (a very, very common local wine - as I was moving from the area, I knew about it in comparison to a non-local traveler so perhaps that was the problem) and they had no idea what I was talking about. I then asked by the name on the menu (Chateau d'Allaman) and again, there was quite a confusion until a bottle could be found. I think, at the least, there should be an expectation that you can respond to the name on the menu. One of the people working also could not understand my accent (I have a Canadian accent in French) but instead of the normal interaction where we try to figure out how we can adjust to understand each other, they just stared blankly, and frankly, in a seemingly annoyed manner at me, then just talked to their colleague in French instead of addressing me, and left. As a hotel receiving a lot of guests with what I assume are various accents in English and French, this was shocking to me. Thankfully, their colleague was absolutely amazing and made up for the experience.
Clean and modern hotel, with good location and friendly staff
Nothing really
Nothing
A lot. Breakfast sucks, very minimalist for 18 CHF. Staff does not speak French very well. Actually a kind of Indian person could not take my booking on the phone and asked me to go on an online platform like booking as it will be there and cheaper. Amazing. When I asked for an extra pillow the girl was almost angry I was asking for something. Felt I was there just to pay and shut up. I got my extra pillow two days after. I’m believable. And I was a good customer: 3 weeks in a row, 5 days a week. Done never again. They suck.
