Very good, helpful staff
It was located in a good neighborhood that wasn’t too loud but not too far from main streets. Easy to get an uber here.
Some of the staff were very pleasant and kind. One staff memeber would playfully banter with me and I enjoyed the interaction.
Room had adequate items like cookware and towels and other amenities. A/C functioned fine as did both TVs, water temp and pressure were also fine.
Had a no frills gum on top floor and cool pool with amazing view of the city above.
24hrs security.
On my departure, I neglectfully forgot a pouch that had sensitive items - including my debit/credit cards and some cash. I checked out and decided to have lunch nearby and perhaps an hour later I received a call from them mentioning that I had forgotten said item. Racing back to the hotel, I received my pouch with all items intact and untouched (including cash!). Beyond grateful, I tipped the housekeeping staff member who found the item who was lovely and very kindhearted and appreciative and very grateful (as was I). I should note this wasn’t the already mentioned head of housekeeping who behaved poorly with me (although she tried to claim credit for finding and reporting it for want of a reward, I assume). Staff was a plus for the most part but not all so hit or miss.
Had a room on 2flr with balcony (more like a ledge) that overlooked a poorly kept yard with guard dogs. This doesn’t really bother me that much but it just felt a bit interesting as I hadn’t experience that before - although I aknowledge not the hotels fault and unsure what they could do to correct this. Just noting this for future guest who do care about a view.
Certain practices weren’t mentioned up front. I wasn’t made aware that housekeeping cleaning was severely limited and cost extra and I believe available only 2days a week. Additionally, that clean towels were a rare commodity very difficult to acquire. After 3+ days of using same towel I requested a change and was told that would only be available via housekeeping cleaning and since it was too late in my trip to request it (even paying for it) that exchanging a towel was not feasible. After insisting, they acquiesced as an “exception” but I’d have to go down to the lobby and physically exchange it meaning that I’d have to hand over old towel and they retrieved a new one - when I was annoyed that someone couldn’t come to my room and exchange and treating this like an untrustworthy transaction (I even claimed that I’d pay for the towel if I damaged it or w/e out of frustration) they claiming the need to do so as some guests had absconded with them or worse. Having traveled abroad avidly, including 3 prior trips to the DR, I found this notion absurd and surprising, a cheap (clean) towel being prized highly at the cost of good customer service.
Also, the housekeeper or head of housekeeping (idk her name) was very clearly mean mugging me (throwing me visible angry looks) and muttering under her breath unpleasant things about me. I’m a native Spanish speaker and understood what she said but all the same she didn’t care. I found her very unpleasant and did not want to interact her anymore.
It was okay , no option to pay via booking or with tap, hotel needs to take your card so it can be inconvenient.
There was no hot water, not cold but barely warm.
Widows aren’t sound proof so you will hear cars people screaming and dogs barking.
I can’t say it’s a bad experience and can’t call it exeptional. But it’s an okay place to stay over night for its price.
