HM Bavaro Beach – Adults Only

This hotel is literally in front of the beach. If you want to rest it's perfect.

Our stay at HM Bávaro was truly amazing! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with drinks and fresh fruit, and throughout our stay, the staff even refilled our wine and fruit twice — so thoughtful and accommodating. The team went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. I especially want to mention Johanny, Noemi, and Alejandro (staff at Whala) for being so helpful and kind.

The food was excellent — from the continental breakfast to the delicious meals at Tamashi (Japanese) and Anima (Italian) restaurants. The beach view was stunning, and we loved relaxing at the rooftop pool. On lazy days, the indoor pool was the perfect retreat.

The only small thing I’d mention is that the bathroom could be a bit bigger, as water sometimes splashed onto the floor near the bed when showering. But overall, this hotel delivered an outstanding experience, and if we come back, I will surely pick this hotel again.

Beachfront: There is a guest designated beach area with seats and umbrellas that is well-regulated by security. No panhandlers. Room: I had an unobstructed ocean view with balcony. Bed was comfy. Blackout curtains. A/c but couldn’t adjust vents and had noticeable mold. Balcony retained water on rainy days due to no drainage. Balcony has a towel/bathing suit drying rack. Decor: newer but IKEA grade. Bathroom: tiny. Pools: rooftop and main floor. Bars at each. There is pick for a lot of excursions just next door to the hotel. Cons: Room service was terrible. Called the hotel. The told me to call the restaurant. Restaurant said they would send someone to my room to take my order. Nobody showed up. Silly system. There is a beach bar next door that bumps loud music into the late evening hours. There is a market and there are some restaurants nearby but they are packed and often there is a line down the street. There are no sidewalks and the roads are terrible especially when flooded from rain. My biggest complaint was that the hotel wanted to fumigate my room during my stay. Thankfully I was in my room when they came by to do it so I could turn them away but this was inappropriate and unsafe in my opinion.

The toilet wasn't working the 3 days we were there. They kept blaming me for throwing tissue down the drain. It happened even after we stopped flushing tissue. They did not change the room. Every time we used the loo- we had to go downstairs, to the front desk as the telephones werent working. The good things are the breakfast, the location.

Excellent steak from on site roof top restaurant. No hot water in shower. Beautiful beach front view room with balcony. Staff was excellent. Excellent roof top infinity pool with views. Access to property was flooded most of my stay.

Really nice hotel. Not to crowded. Very clean compared to others. Food and drink is good for a hotel. Do not expect a food journey. It has all you need and it has super super friendly staff. Credit card payments are preferred and the beach is nice to look at from the sky bar and pool

Seaweed was not cleaned properly. Couldnt access the beach at all during our entire 5 days of trip. Room and service was okay.

Resort was good, but the beach wasn’t that great. Old boats and parts were stored on the beach which is weird. The streets leading to the resort were flooded with maybe 3 inches of water the whole time we were there. The staff and the food was good though.

The hotel is NOT as advertised. It is not an excellent rating; far from it.
I don't want anyone else to think this is a beachfront option as it is not. The smell of the seaweed on their private beach along with the standing smelly water that surrounds the property is intolerable. They try their best to hide the horrific smell with air freshener, but it's no competition for the powerful stench. The rooms are very tiny and ours faced an area where trash was kept. We tried walking around the neighborhood but it's unsafe and flooded with water. We unfortunately had to leave after one night, and find other accommodations as the smell made me physically ill. On a good note, the staff were all kind and the breakfast buffet was very nice.
The roof-top infinity pool is lovely, but the smell from below wafts up and ruins it.
So, beware of this place if you have a desire to not smell sewage and seaweed.
