Easy check in. Friendly staff. Clean room. Large comfy bed. Hairdryer, tv, tea/coffee. Plenty of hot water for shower etc.
No chef therefore no food. Calne very limited in restaurants.
Although room was good shower, stuck in corner of bathroom, was rather cramped. Bathroom needs tidying up, including mold on ceiling.
Room was a good size and bed was big and comfortable.
There was no breakfast. The walls seem a little thin as we had people in the room next door and all we could hear was them coughing most of the night
Drinks
Great location and value. Staff were exceptionally nice.
Bed slightly uncomfy and shower soaked whole bathroom.
Booked for 3 nights, Disgusting smell in shower, so we left after first night, would not answer their phone, left message twice, no return call, Booking also tryed to call them!
There was no food.
Male toilets not working.
Convenient parking, easy location to find. Friendly staff.
Room was very hot with an electric radiator too hot to touch. Then when we opened the window to cool it down, there was someone smoking outside, which then meant the smoke came into the room.
Bathroom wasn't very clean, spot of blood on the floor by the sink.
Funny smell in room.
There was no breakfast as there was no chef. However, for the first evening they did allow for bringing in takeaway and provided cutlery. This was a positive thing and solved trying to find somewhere to eat.
The bed was comfortable.
I could not find a wi-fi signal in the room.
The tea and coffee was not refurbished during the stay.
Bathroom was cramped but functional.
Location, rooms are spacious and clean. Really good value for money.
Mattress was a little soft, shower cubicle very small, could have done with a plug in the sink. All very functional though.
Room was ok, bed was huge
Tea and coffee provided, no internet I was aware of
Rooms could be more sound proof especially with the noise from the room next door - let me explain further
I recently stayed in Room 8 at The Dog and Partridge in Calne, and I feel morally obliged to leave this review for the benefit of future guests.
First, the good stuff:
Lovely pub, friendly atmosphere, comfortable room, decent bed. So Zero complaints there.
However… my stay came to an abrupt end at 3:30am, when I was forced to evacuate like a man escaping a small but passionate earthquake.
The issue was Room 7.
At some point in the early hours, the couple next door launched into what can only be described as the loudest, most committed act of lovemaking ever performed indoors. The walls vibrated with repeated cries of “oh God”, enthusiastic “ooh yeah THAT’S the spot”, and frequent, emotionally charged demands of “GIVE IT TO ME”.
This was not intimacy.
This was performance art.
To add a percussive element, the headboard began repeatedly slamming against the wall with such force that I briefly considered whether I should:
• applaud
• shout “bravo”
• ask for a programme
• or call reception to see if refreshments were being served for the audience
After what felt like the extended director’s cut with bonus scenes, I accepted defeat, packed my bags, and fled Calne at 3:30am.
No real complaints. Just worth noting that Room 7 has phenomenal acoustics and Room 8 offers front-row seats. Light sleepers may wish to bring earplugs… or noise-cancelling headphones… or a will to live.
Would I stay again? Yes.
Would I choose Room 8? Only if I’m in the mood for live entertainment.
Unforgettable stay. Literally
The bathroom. Hole in the floor in front of the loo wasn't what i expected to have to contend with when paying a visit.
Great location and plenty of parking.
Bathroom smelt musty and wasn’t very clean. Crack in sink, hole in floor by toilet and if had heels on would go through.
Breakfast bacon looked undercooked, sausages cheap and just in general the whole thing looked unappealing.
Comfortable bed
Breakfast - poor selection .. no cereal, no juices,
