The location was fantastic. It was in a lovely, walkable area with plenty if eateries, shopping spots, even a local library. It's a cute, queer-friendly area.
The hotel itself js so beautiful! It has a 20's/30's vibe with the decor (obviously drawing from it's old-school past as an old police station from the time-period. The facilities were good too with a gorgeous lounge, free ice and drinking-water. There were public toilets downstairs too.
The room was amazing. The A/C was great, the room came with a mini-fridge, a microwave (that I didn't use although having the option was a plus), high ceilings, good lighting and a comfortably sized bath/shower combo.
If I'm being super picky; I wasn't a fan of the check-in. It was all online which is perfectly fine, with it partly being down to me I did struggle with unlocking the room itself. It wasn't obvious where the keypad was to unlock the room. The keypad on the doorhandle is a glossy black so I initially though I need a keycard to tap it and unlock the room, it took me about 5 minutes of freaking out at 1 AM to actually touch the glossy black glass for it to iluminate with a keypad. Ultimately it's down to me but I think making it thoroughly could be an improvement for the Bellwether. Also I just like the human aspect.
The only other thing I would say is that while the room was absolutely stunning, we didn't have a view. That's fine by the way it doesn't matter that much to me. The window was up high we couldn't see out of it and was really just there for natural light. Again, it's not important to me.
Very cute boutique hotel!
Room was a bit small.
The location is perfect. It’s just a few houses down from my brothers Victorian on Rosewood. The location on Bardstown made it easy to get a nice big cup of coffee, and per above a drop in salon to get my hair washed and dried, and very pleasant neighborhoods to walk in. And easy access to the things we needed to do downtown. I will say that the really cold cement floors are no fun. I understand there are such things as slippers, however. I did put my own shoes on..
The water pressure in the shower was not adequate for washing hair, and with no shower door, the water poured out into the cement floor of the regular bathroom. I had to pay for a salon hair wash and blow dry because the shower was not adequate for my thick hair. And, OK, on Friday night we heard a loud male voice and upset woman’s voice, the sound of slapping and then the sound of pounding sexual activity. And it seemed like maybe the door was a jar down the hall; needless to say we weren’t really interested in going and looking. Maybe posting quiet hours would be a good idea. And if there was a place to call and ask for help, that’s one benefit of a staffed hotel. But I know that that’s made very clear that you’re a no staff in. But perhaps you should know that things like that do happen in your end and maybe people come there because they know there’s nobody that you can complain to and that or will come and bother them when they’re doing their sex play. I hope it was sex play and not something worse. You should know.
Eclectic
No staff
size and decor of room just beautiful and unique
The hotel is beautifully designed and clean. The cost was not over priced and classy. Loved all the amenities it offered, the tv (had prime video, you tube, Netflix etc), the retro radio, and the sound machine for sleeping, plenty of towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, hair dryer, microwave, refrigerator, coffee pot, and books to read about local attractions. The bed was very comfortable. Restaurants, salons, bars, stores, fast food all within walking distance.
Thank you to the owners for remodeling something old and historic into a spectacular stay for others to enjoy.
We will be back!!!
I love the location. The room is nicer than the photos. Thoughtful touches.
Bring a robe and slippers. Cement floors are cold in the winter.
It was pretty and in a good area
The heat didn’t work no matter what we did it snowed the day before and was like 10 degrees outside.
The location was very convenient and the quality of the room and bed comfort was fantastic. Having a more traditional coffeemaker in the room with a refrigerator was a plus
The lack of any onsite staff was at times inconvenient. I did not see any way to request more bathroom supplies, and the lack of a desk in the room was also a negative for me. The two flights of steps to my room with no elevator was inconvenient for both checking in and out.
