check in took over 20 mins, waiting for the staff to show us our room. There was no cable, no heated floora as advertised, not enough towells and the restaurant closes at 530pm. On top of that, when we tried to leave the property, we had to call several times and around 30 mins until finally someone came to open. Worst experience and service ever. Have never experienced something like this.
I believe it was Oct. or Nov. when we stayed here. Driving in at night, we called in advance and were advised a staff member would greet us and get us our room. We arrived 8:30 PM, and found the hotel parking area locked. It was dark and I left the car on the side of the road and knocked on the hotel door, no one was present. We tried calling to no avail, we honked the car horn and a staff member in an off premise residence came processed us in. Once processed in, the staff member returned to her home off premises. Hotel rooms are individual cabin types. We were alone on the premises, with are car locked in the parking area. This did not leave us feeling very safe. The cabin itself was nice and clean. I would rate the mattress as mildly comfortable. The cabin is Flintstone esque. The cabin shower included beautiful stone work. Our room had a fantastic view of the mountains and beautiful surrounding areas. At about 8:00 am, we greeted the arriving staff in the parking lot upon their arrival. They got the restaurant up and running in no time and breakfast was great. I would not stay here again given no staff on premises in the evenings, being essentially locked in at night etc.... (staff were great, helpful, informative when present).
We took an impromptu trip to the Cajas and fell in love with this property. We had a big group of 5 and they accommodated us with ease. It was easy to book, beautiful property, quiet, and so much nature. The workers were so nice and helpful. So many amazing people working together to make this place run. We did on site fishing which was so fun for the kids. The restaurant was warm and welcoming and the food was great. The view was even better. This location is amazing and I highly recommend it. An easy 30 min cab drive from CUENCA.
Excellent experience :) my dog and family had a lot of fun and a relaxing time
This place is absolutely beautiful, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. They gave me an early check in, helped me get transportation, and let me leave me bag after checkout so that I could go hiking. The food was also excellent. I would highly recommend this place if you plan to visit El cajas.
Loved my experience at Estancia San Juan. The parking area was a little challenging, because you have to go down a short hill to get to rooms and sadly our car wasn’t up to it so they allowed us to park on the top of the property. The Estancia faces a gorgeous mountain and that’s the first thing you see in the morning. It also has several green areas that you can walk to enjoy nature, and if you’re lucky enough, you can see how some of the staff milks the cows. The staff is extremely cordial and even though the government started to cut the electricity a few hours a day, they made sure that we were as comfortable as possible. We’re looking forward to our next visit. This place is perfect if you love nature more than the overcrowded “touristy” resorts.
It was a peaceful place and very cozy
