My husband and I went to the spa and got a couples stone massage, and it was absolutely amazing. Starting from the wonderful, pleasant Alayna, who booked our appts. She was the most pleasant, sweet and wonderful spa host. Her calm, sweet aura is what every spa should have welcoming the guests. She was in no hurry when I was taking forever to decide on a necklace I wanted, and they had already closed. The therapists were very pleasant and just an amazing experience all around. We will definitely be back soon!
Enjoyed everything about the golf experience on course but for the very expensive price for a play and stay you would expect far better service at the resort
Outside services for bag drop and cart was very poor. No help with unloading bags and couldn’t give clear directions to the driving range, which was a challenge
Staff clearly need training. Valet no help in unloading and loading car. Front desk looking at phones instead of helping customers. Ask to split a bill 50/50 in restaurant and it came back $90 and $130, even the manager couldn’t fix it. This goes on and on.
Golf course great except 5.5 hour rounds. Do not recommend staying here. Need to increase level of service professionalism throughout the resort.
.
The dining service is awful. The food is just ok, but the service is lacking. Untrained and terribly slow. Would not recommend unless you don’t mind long wait times and uninterested staff.
Recently opened resort hotel. Everything was neat, clean, smartly decorated, nicely landscaped, and with breathtaking mountain views in most directions. The room was large and luxurious.
A couple of small issues about which I would expect more from a five-star luxury resort. 1) Signage, particularly in the garage was poor. Took a day to get the lay of the land (including finding out that I parked my car far from the building in which my room was located and having to waste time moving the car to a closer spot). 2) They provide bottled water for each guest each day. On one of the days, housekeeping forgot to stock our room with the bottled water. I went to the front desk and the representative told me they would take care of it. We went out for the day and came back after dinner and still, no water. I had to take another hike to the front desk where, this time, the representative apologized on behalf of the resort and promptly brought me our waters.
I repeat, these are small issues but other 5-star resorts to which I have been do not err like this. I am hoping they fix these small issues as I would like to return for another visit.
This resort is a special place. The location is stunning. We are golfers but even if we weren't, the surrounding areas and hiking are incredible. Black Desert resort will continue to grow and get better. I'm looking forward to it but aspects of the design of the room we stayed in left us scratching our heads.
Golf here is incredible. Turf is amazing, greens were in great condition and the practice facilities are exceptional. Our biggest gripe was that so many holes were cart path only. Our cart gave us a message on every single hole that it was cart path only. We started ignoring it but it kind of put a damper on the round and added half an hour.
We stayed in a Deluxe King Suite. It was very nice but had a lot of design mistakes. I don't understand how this luxury resort hired such bad designers.
- Bathroom was really beautiful with lots of counter space and oversized towels. No shelf at all in the shower to put items brought yourself. Had to put them on the floor.
- The bedroom had only one USB-C port in the headboard. Nothing else. Not even an AC plug that you could use. That was a real miss. If you didn't have a USB-C cable, you were out of luck.
- Pillows on the bed were hard and neither one of us liked them at all.
- No light fixtures in the kitchen. This was so annoying in the evenings. We had an island counter with barstools, but no lighting over the bar. It's as if they forgot to put in the lighting. They could have used pendants over the kitchen island.
- No lamps in living room.
- Keurig coffeemaker never made a hot cup of coffee.
- Design of window treatments in family room was a major miss. Instead of a set of sheers that you can pull and then a set of blackout drapes over them (as most nice hotels do) there were enormous expanses of remote controlled fabric blinds. (I attached a photo) Very, very ugly and not very functional - either you had to have total blackout or total light. All or nothing. Not a good design.
We are definitely going back, though and all the staff were great.
Beautiful resort with so many wonderful amenities. The front desk, valet service, housekeeping were top notch. Great customer service delivered every day. Everyone has been trained on how to interact with their customers to deliver first class service. It was easy to do because the people have manners and are just good people. Our room had a sub zero fridge, remote control to operate TV, shades, lighting, temperature settings. Great restaurants and unbelievable golf course, and fabulous pool with cabanas, tv, mini fridge and hot tub. The list goes on!
We stayed in several hotels while traveling around St. George/Zion on a trip and this was by far our favorite resort. The view from our room was incredible and everything at the hotel felt brand new. We had a great time relaxing at the pool with food/drink service. A bit surprised this resort did not have a higher rating but it appears some of the older reviews are from when the main hotel building was under construction. Highly recommend
Such a sweet server who made the experience so fun! I loved her banter and her recommendations for the rosé and the bread pudding! Definitely would love to have her as a server again!
Griffin went above and beyond to fix an online booking error made on my part! He didn’t have to do this! Yet he took the time work his magic and got us the best room on the property! Give this man a raise!!!
Ishmael was courteous, professional and efficient while guiding me and my wife to our room. He oriented us to the property, its history and to the event we’ve attending. Well done, thanks Ishmael!
It is an amazing first class resort, the staff overall, is outstanding; in the hotel, the pro shop, the golf course and restaurants.
Nicole at the front desk is an example of courtesy, 100 percent committed and an outstanding human being
Janessa is amazing, attentive, knew the menu well, never had a glass half empty…would. Recommend the 20th hole and Janessa any day of the week!
Beautiful resort! Food was to die for! Can’t wait until the property is complete.
I was really disappointed about my favorite sever JOY who was no longer there anymore! She was always new my drinks, food for my whole family! Very attentive to every single detail, including to split our kids's food and made sure they were all taken care of, and heard and listen to .
She was such a joy to have her as a server and we always came back because she was there and now that she's not I'm never coming back again! because it won't be the same without her there her experience that we had she made us feel like Home in as if we were own house and so friendly and outgoing and kind and just made us feel like we are the only table she ever had!
Even when she was busy with other tables. Very attentive to detail I never had to ask her what I needed. She already knew without asking my whole family came we celebrated graduation and our anniversary lunch and breakfast there she was the best server.!! Black Desert will be not the same without her there! And I will not be returning anymore because without her, it's not the same to come anymore she was the highlight and the gift with her working there! Now that she is not I won't return! I am local and i was very saddened that she gone. I walked out after I found out she was not there no longer. She was our number one best server! She was a Gem and black desert will not be the same and no will my business being there as well, along with my whole family and friends. We only wanted her as our server. We came for her!
DJ IS THE BEST PERSON/EMPLOYEE THERE!!!! If I can give him more star’s I would. I am from Las Vegas NV. DJ is awesome! He is the reason why I come back once a month. Thank you black desert for having DJ on your team! Need more like him!
I recently stayed for 2 nights mid-week at Black Desert Resort. Is the resort still under construction? Unquestionably yes. Was the construction an issue for me? Absolutely not. This is a beautiful place and it will only get better with time... but don't feel you need to wait! It's beautiful now and they are actively working to make every guest experience NUMBER 1! The new Tom Weiskopf Golf course is open and really special. It was designed amidst an ancient lava flow (ergo Black Desert) which really is spectacular against the red rocks in the distance. We also had the opportunity to experience the spa which was fantastic - Carol gave me an amazing facial.
So lets be fair and honest, this is Utah. There are fairly strict alcohol laws in Utah and St. George in particular. They are actively working to overcome those laws to allow for a more lenient experience for guests, especially on the golf course. We did sit outside the main bar and witnessed 2 stunning sunsets over the spectacular golf course while sipping cocktails. It was still in an area considered the lounge so was allowed. Alcohol is currently not allowed at the pool nor on the golf course. There are places to dine on the golf course during your round (in fact they are included in the rate) and you can have a cocktail there. You just can't drive around in a cart drinking an alcoholic beverage. That isn't that scandalous though, is it? Drinking and driving is illegal in most places in the United States. Should this cause you to pause before booking a round? I guess it depends on how badly you need to drink while playing golf. ;-)
Were there any little hiccups during my stay? Yes. It's a new resort. The lotion was missing from my room (OH DEAR!!). I called the front desk and presto change-o there was someone knocking on the door with 2 small bottles of lotion in a bag for me. It was easily solved. The bed was absolute HEAVEN. I am a traveler. I sleep in beds around the world and this bed ranked up with the very best of them. There was a beautiful view from my balcony and I could sit there in the quiet of the morning and enjoy it with coffee made IN MY ROOM!! (The room also has a refrigerator in case you have anything you'd like to chill - wink, wink) Breakfast was delicious. We had one meal in the bar which was very good and one meal off-site. It was good but the restaurant on property was better.
I would not wait to experience this resort for yourself. There are big plans underway and it will be extremely popular. Be a trailblazer, travel now!
it is on the fourth floor of a beautiful view that encompasses the golf course a small lake the mountains and the sun said if you’re dining at dinner. The chef has a limited menu of classic choices of prime, beef, salmon, as well as diverse scallops.
..
Because you are eating at a fine dining restaurant in Utah, remember that alcohol is served in smaller quantities than other states.
The menu is quite good and I enjoyed the diver scallops in a sauce that was made from a lobster reduction along with broccoli and Snow peas. I asked to have the broccoli replaced because broccoli to me has a scent that would overwhelm the sweetness of the scallops.
I think the chef could have done a light dusting of rice flour on the scallops which were served beautifully, but did not have that brown beautiful score from being sautéed and butter with the rice, dusting of rice flour.
They are building their clientele with some classic dishes, including prime, cut of steak and salmon and other pleasant dishes.
