Loved the location, the staff were amazing & loved the pool
The location.
No breakfast.
Good Location.
The room is very very small. Almost No space to pack our luggage.
Staff were wonderful and friendly.
Easy to walk around and explore, there is also a nice underground shopping/food mall nearby so you don’t have to get into the heat.
The 16th floor gave a wonderful view.
Some information leaflet/booklet would have come in handy. Room service was a bit more pricey than expected. But can’t fault the hotel.
Centrality to Everything - what ever we were doing that day, it was the right place to start from whether it required the DTL station available via the undercover stroll or the short walk to Maxwell MRT for the ETL. It was not a big deal to drop back to the room, dump the morning's shopping before heading out again to the next thing.
In room, I appreciated the many USB charge points, the responsive and effective air-conditioning, and that there was a window to see out of.
The large parking/delivery area at the front door was far less fraught than others I have experienced when it came to arriving.
On premise self service laundry was appreciated as was the really large pool. Staff were very attentive and represented Singapore well.
Not negative things, just things that were not as positive as the great things above:
Knowing the area better now, I would not opt for the buffet breakfast on my next stay. There are many options within a couple of minute's walk that are cheaper and just as handy to access.
The buffet breakfast was illogically laid out. The toasting station here, but the start of the hot food over there. The fruit in one place, the yoghurt in another. Everything you could want was there - it just took a few trips to and from the table to get it weaving past others doing the same thing.
A second bedside table in the Double bed room would have been nice - the power points are there, but needed to move the chair over to place things on to charge next to the bed.
Towels appeared to be changed daily even when hung up to dry
The area was good. Close to everything.
Small bathroom, no socket outlet near the mirror to do your hair.
Good location
Rooms very small and were not serviced
Location was great! Close to Chinatown and public transport. Only 2 stops away from Downtown centre. There are heaps of eateries, bars & 7elevens nearby.
I loved the indoor slippers, the unlimited towels for the pool, and the comfy beds. Our room was clean too.
However, the beds were really short! They definitely don't suit tall people, my husbands legs were hanging off...
The selection of TV channels were underwhelming (only saying that if you are jet legged and want to watch late night football) and there was no milk to the tea, coffee in the room. I also think it is a rip off to ask $78 for a buffet dinner, when you can eat a ton of food 5min walk from the hotel.
Wondering why don't they offer normal size beds upon booking? I am short, so i was fine, but my tall husband was struggling.
A lovely modern hotel in a great location for exploring Singapore.
Very disappointing and stressful experience with Mercure ICON Singapore City Centre.
We had booked 2 rooms for a business trip. Due to extraordinary and completely unforeseen flight disruptions related to the Middle East situation, one guest was unable to travel. We contacted the hotel multiple times over several days to request a partial refund for the unused room and to arrange the stay properly for the second guest.
The biggest problem was the hotel’s extremely poor customer support. Our messages were ignored for days, and when they finally replied, the responses were delayed, repetitive, and often did not properly address the actual questions we asked. We had to repeat the same explanation again and again, which created unnecessary stress just before travel.
We were not asking for a full cancellation. We were only asking for a fair partial refund for one room that could not be used due to exceptional circumstances beyond our control, while the second guest was still going ahead with the stay. Instead of handling this efficiently and professionally, the hotel kept passing responsibility around and giving unclear answers.
After many emails and a lot of pressure, the hotel finally agreed to cancel one room with a one-night penalty and stated that the remaining balance would be refunded. However, even after this confirmation, the refund still has not been received.
What is even worse is that there was also a double charge issue for the room that had already been paid. So not only have we still not received the promised refund, but we were also charged again for accommodation that was already settled.
This is unacceptable. A hotel should know how to handle exceptional situations, payment issues, and customer communication properly. Instead, this experience involved delays, confusion, poor support, unresolved refund issues, and billing problems.
I travel often and have dealt with many hotels, but this was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had.
Excellent location. Minutes to Chinatown and Maxwell Hawker centre, and easy walk to Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay. Friendly staff. Very helpful. Booked the balcony room which was nice given the smaller room size. Will stay again when in Singapore next.
Honestly the room is small and the bathroom very small, however no real issue for us. Comfortable for the 2 of us, but would be uncomfortable with 3.
Location and staff
Wasn’t too clean
Generally nice hotel.
Could hear a lot of noise from next door but they were shouting a lot.
Provision of more than 1 teabag per day. 🤪
Very small room
