Everything is really nice the drinks and snacks that they had that you could get were really nice the rooms are really nice also
We loved it so much. It was absolutely perfect. I would come here again in a second.
Great place and very comfortable!
We enjoyed every bit of this gorgeous property. We stayed in the penthouse suite and my teens were thrilled with how pretty and cozy it was. I hope we get to come back and soon!
TV remote barely worked. Very annoying. Coffee options limited.
We really enjoyed the Statler for an anniversary getaway. The whole experience was great—the location is prime for Staunton’s downtown, the common areas of the house were well appointed and well stocked with various treats, the room was very spacious and comfortable, and they are very thoughtful about providing what you need to have a great stay.
It is a historic house, so be prepared for creaky floors and for sound to bounce around the house in strange ways. But, again, they provided a sound machine to help with that!
This place is beautiful and in a gorgeous historic district, however it is 100% MISREPRESENTED PRICE-WISE online. The price you see does NOT show a hidden fee which is a very misleading (and sneaky) way to get listed on websites like this at a reasonable price and then when you actually book it, they tack on an additional fee (almost as much as the room itself) for the "TOWEL FEE" on top of the price shown which, together, is really the price they should have listed in the first place. This is unethical, and companies like Hotels.com should vet these hotels and inns prior to accepting the listings so that customers don't spend precious vacation time trying to get back the money they should have never been charged in the first place. My advice to this property is to BE HONEST FROM THE GETGO. We would have stayed here anyway had we known the REAL Price from the beginning. Don't dupe your customers by adding a towel fee that is impossible to find. Otherwise this place is lovely and extremely comfortable.
Beautiful rooms. Very comfortable. Clean. Felt luxurious.
Not having anyone on the premise. Traditional bed-and-breakfast, have a charm that the Hot Springs, that this one lacked. Additionally, I book through Booking.com, but was charged in much higher rate by the hotel. Since there was no one, you could speak to directly, it took quite a while to address. Ultimately, I was refunded, however, the property agent basically put the blame on Booking.com not providing all the information. They wanted to charge me those extra fees, but I basically said the issue was between them and Booking.com. Since we were literally the only ones at the hotel, it was beautiful, but empty. Not quite what I was expecting.
Lovely, clean and comfortable. Will visit again for sure!
The bed was very comfortable and the Keurig was okay. Water pressure in the shower was better than in most hotels.
The TV. Reception of the picture was not reliable. Instead of having Hulu, Netflix etc. for streaming, we would prefer cable TV that includes local stations. We were also disappointed that PBS was not part of the menu.
Quiet and beautiful area
Neat to stay in a historical home.
Just need to fix the toilet. It keeps running. Otherwise everything was perfect.
I loved the deck off my suite until I realized that there were 2 windows from the nextdoor suite overlooking my 'private' deck Since I was there 2 nights of my 4 night stay alone it wasn't a big deal.
The parking is the pits! Since I was there 2 nights with no other guests, it wasn't a problem. I wasn't aware initially that there was no staff in house but that turned out to not be a problem. I'd recommend anyone wanting to take a shower to set aside an extra 15 minutes in order to get the temperature amenable. The water pressure was good but at one point the handheld shower was cold at the same time as the rainshower head was hot, etc. Took awhile to get a comfortable temp.
Lovely room and very cozy location in this in-town vintage architecture residential area. Quiet breezes where birdsong and fragrance of small gardens abound. Several fine restaurants a short distance away.
The Berkeley Place is more beautiful in person than in the photos! The rooms are very spacious, the bathroom is spa-level beautiful, and the bed was wonderful. We had a marvelous stay and will definitely be back.
The only thing that I would say needs improvement are the bedside tables and lamps. I realize that space is limited, but there needs to be a place to put a phone, book, tissues, etc. by the bed. The bedside lamps were really inadequate.
Gorgeous old house, beautiful restored. Great location
The place itself was great, but it was kind of spooky to have no human host there, and we were apparently the only people in the house. When we booked it, we were not told about the complex procedures involved in staying in a non-human robot place.
Bedding towels and cleanliness
Front door code entry a little tricky
Had a girls weekend & stayed in the top floor 2 bedroom suite. It was a perfect getaway, with ample room. The kitchen was great for a quick breakfast before heading out and the living room was great for watching a movie at night. Parking was provided behind the house, but we didn’t need to move the car after parking originally because everything was very walkable. We enjoyed the theater, great restaurants, shops & even glass blowing nearby. Beds were extremely comfortable and towels were so soft! We loved the extra snacks & treats available outside our door too! We had one minor issue with the refrigerator not being quite cold enough and mentioned it to the housekeeper before heading out for the day. While we were out, I received a text to let me know someone would look at it while we were out & checking for permission for the person to come inside. Communication was great & the problem was fixed before we returned. Great overall stay & we loved our getaway here!
amazing stay great price, beautiful place
