I did not like the fact that my room was near the entrance, because of this, I heard everyone passing by to go to their rooms. Which means, I did not sleep very well seeing it was New Years and everyone was coming in past midnight. Had I gotten a different room. My entire stay would have been amazing. The staff was very friendly, the atmosphere was great!

No offer of room cleaning even though I stayed 4 nights. I had to request towels and toilet paper. None offered

Great that the hotel offers pick up from airport/water taxi ports. Room was clean with a good sized bathroom. Juan in the restaurant was great, one of few people during my trip that understood celiac disease so felt super safe with the food here. Golf carts available to rent from the hotel. Primary reason for stay in San Pedro was diving and pickup was available from the dock across the road.
The larger bed in the room felt like the mattress needed replacing, the single was okay. The rooms don't have hot water from the sink for hand washing. More hanging space in the bathroom for wet swimwear would be great for rooms without a balcony. Not a fault of the hotel, but may be useful info for light sleepers - noise travels very easily through the hotel so if inconsiderate guests are around expect to be disturbed. Pool area was very shaded, probably a bonus for some but I prefer full sun.
The staff at Tropical Palace are amazing, super friendly and helpful! they were truly one of the nicest people at a hotel. The hotel is cute, the location is convenient. The island itself is not very walkable so you will need a golf cart anyway and everything was within a 5 to 15 min drive. The ferry dock is walkable, it's about 2 to 3 min away. They were kind enough to pick us up and drop us off at the airport. They provide coffee (sometimes it wasn't ready but they made it for us) and drinking water in the lobby. The lobby closes at 9pm so stock up on water for bed time. There is a cute pool and small bar. We didn't really hang out at the hotel though so I can't comment on the service at the bar. The rooms were great. The bed was super comfortable (softer mattress which I really really liked). The AC worked great, the Wifi was okay, some rooms do have worse signal than others. The bathroom was big and the hot water was great ( you have to let the shower run for 2 to 3 min to get the hot water). we rented a golf cart from next door (same business) and had no issues parking it on the lot or on the street during our stay (11 nights). There were some tiny things that I would suggest for improvements for the staff which would make things even better. Include a duvet, heavier blanket in the rooms (I had a coverlet), my toilet paper holder was missing the bar (not a big deal) and I had no shower mat so I had to use a towel which I felt bad about. otherwise, truly a cute place for the value and they were so so so lovely.
wifi was not great in some rooms, but I believe they are rectifying this issue. We moved and where we were (end of the building) the signal was awesome!
